Put it this way... The idea that a character writes the blubs is so far a very strong contender for me... In spite of DiB's rather good blurb he done for me...

I realise this is OT, but I just wanted to say you've given me a bit of a shock, Shin
I chose the collective name "Weavers" for the wizards and witches in a childhood fantasy, which I hope to write someday. I'll get ony my knees and beg if I have to--just don't trademark it

My attempt at a blurb <250 words:
Book: The Fire Caller
Firecaller Blurb
When two thieves claim to know the location of the spell book of the greatest mage to have ever lived, Tanya, a young, but high ranking mage in one of the eight mage towers of Pith jumps at the chance of acquiring it.
The thieves unwittingly start a cascade of events that fulfills two opposed prophecies, of two ancient and secret organizations.
A Covenant and an Order, who have been waiting for the appearance of the one that will either destroy the land, or save it from an all consuming evil, soon realize it is the time they have waited for, for over two hundred years.
The Covenant believe this ‘savior’ known only to them as the Fire Caller, will be the weapon against evil, given to them by their god in their hour of need when evil threatens to take over the land.
The Order has been foretold in their prophecy that the World Eater will come to consume the world in fire, destroying everything, and its members are sworn to find and destroy it.
The race begins, and all the while, a demented mage is amassing an army of undead, dedicated to his evil god, with plans to invade the Kingdom of Sare and unleash the greatest horror ever seen since the dawn of time.
I think it might still need some work?

Book: Where Allegiance Lies
Description: The three Thrones of the Empire and the council of Weavers have grown content in watching their territories extend on all horizens. The budding empire now pauses to gather new strength after a series of draining conquests. The mysterious powers of the Weavers have often been deciding factor in the empire's conquests. Weaving, the newly discovered Art, is no more than a few decades old, and its' secrets are kept close by a shadow organization known as the Third Eye.
During this respite from battle, lives shuffle and reform as citizens adapt to new roles, and prepare for battles to come. For many citizens, soldiers and tradesman, such as Sjhe, Elrys,Ralon Thieral and Elith, the drift of the times has luckily (or unluckily) set their lives on paths towards the strange and unknown.
Meanwhile, on an island far beyond the sight of the Empire or the Third Eye, a Dreamer has a vision that will change the entire world.

My lords, I fear for our people...
Those few valiant souls who journeyed to the shores returned with horrible tales... I, I cannot fathom to put them to ink...

I quite like this idea: One of your Characters in your book writes the blub! Excellent! Might try it!
Would THIS make you want to read the book if you saw it as a blurb?

Even as I write this, on the eve of my plan coming to fruition, I have my doubts. What kind of monster am I? Or am I a hero as they say?
Unleashing this onto the land, with my thinly veiled justification that it will end the war? I fool everyone but myself; I do it so the name Trellcan will live on forever, even after my death.
And what risks do I take, that it will destroy itself and not roam the land forever after its deed is done? Is the legacy I will leave to ensure it is destroyed whenever it re-emerges enough to satisfy me that, even after I die, the engine of my enemy’s destruction is not turned against the land it saves?
Prophecy: When a demented fool who rambles endlessly suddenly gets a ‘prediction’ from his random mutterings right, they consider him a prophet, and record every word he utters from his foaming, drooling mouth and consider it a glimpse into the future.
Well, it doesn’t have to be just demented fools who can create prophecies…

If we ever needed proof that blubs are better written by someone other than the author...

Until you've read what I've wrote (Particulary Chap 9) I'd hold off DiB in attempting to do a blurb...
So I take it you're a past Chapter 2 now (References to the eight towers)? I'm bloody DYING here with inpatience; waiting for opinions to start trickling...

Book: A Faceless Shadow
Description: The Sword Champion of Gunabad remembered a time when that title meant something to him. The years had burdened him with regret and left him with an emptiness inside that would drive him to journey to Selidor, the holy land of the ancient and wise Larmothians. For Maldo, it was a simple search for answers, but the world does not remain undisturbed by the passing of such men. A chance meeting on an empty road, and a plea he could not ignore would change everything.
The fate of worlds can turn on one moment, where one choice will give rise to a voice that will grow to shake the world.
In the quieter places of the world, folk speak once more of wraiths, dark legends and old myths, and of a faceless shadow stretching from the barren northlands. But the rulers of the free nations of the War Alliance remain blind to the early stirrings of an ancient evil. Struggling to maintain the fragile peace, they remain absorbed in their petty games of hatred, power and influence, ignorant of the perils of a united North.
Yet that peace is shattered when the Emperor of Gunabad is assassinated and all the evidence points to Nerobor. Luckily, not everyone is convinced…
I adapted Gamet's version of this, since everybody thought it was better.

Title: The Donkey-Boy
Description: “It’s a new strain.†Gloster told this to the donkey-boy and, eventually, the donkey-boy told me. “The Little Doctors made it specially.â€
Of course, while we know that it was the Little Doctors in the south who cooked up the fevers, we shouldn’t be surprised if their name meant nothing to the donkey-boy. He is a boy who walks through the world, seeing everything, but understanding little. He remembers the Red Fever, which took his mother and the Black Fever - he’d caught that one himself – but his father had told him the bastards sent the fevers, and it had always been the bastards that the donkey-boy had blamed.
A new strain?
None of them there, standing around the little phial, could see, yet, their ride to stop it, the silent Doctor who created it or the lonely queen who would, at last, use it.

Book: Turnover (completed)
Description: Age old adversaries divide the continent of Europe. In the west, elves, dwarves and the other magical races live together with humans in a democratic but uneasy peace, further east ancient beliefs of human supremacy dictate government policy. The uneasy border between the two sides is the most militarised zone in the world. When all hell breaks loose Captain Andrew Stoke is caught up in political machinations that eventually make him the commander of the first all race unit in Britain. He must establish his position as commander and gain the unit’s respect while the threat of an imminent invasion looms over them all.
Book: War Among Ruins (the sequel)
Description: Britain has been invaded. Captain Stoke, commander of the first all races unit in the British army, must fight for survival in the devastated ruins of London. In the chaotic retreat from the war torn city he will make new allies, confront old foes and uncover treason within his own ranks. As the world around him goes to hell, Captain Stoke will have to use every resource at his disposal just to stay alive.
Basically, the books are set in a twisted 1930s world: where there's magic and elves, dwarves and advanced technology.
