No. NO! NOOOOOO!!! DIET SODA IS ONE OF THE MANLY MORTAL SINS!

Seriously, drinking diet soda is practically the same as being a vegetarian. It is morally wrong. You wouldn't eat fat free bacon would you!??

Either drink it regular or don't drink it. Don't come here and tell me that "Oooohh it tastez better withoutz the sugarz, I like it zugar freez, look I lostz weight juzt going over to thiz new brandz... of DEVILS PISS!" People who complain about their weight need to stop drinking soda all together, chuck down some water and take a run. People who want delicious, sugary, carbonated goodness drink Coca-cola regular and feel damn good about it.

YOU ARE A WOMAN ILLYUANKAS!!!

You're a redneck who likes losing all his teeth at the age of 30. And you can't even spell my name, Crapt.

Besides, I was practically ordered by my doctor to switch.

Hit a nerve there did I?

Huurrr Duurhh I Lurk mu sugary suger water. A aint nah redneck!

:)

He's been dead for about 23 hours.

Also, real rednecks would have this poll state:

"Which do you like better:

A. Coke
B. Coke (Pepsi)
...
D. Coke (other, name please)

Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Diet soda is good for weight-loss and weight-control...otherwise, it's awful.

What really gets me is all these fatties on campus I see drinking Vitamin Water....like the 200+ calorie bottles of 'water' are going to get them skinny.

I don't know if you foreigners know of this stuff, but it's basically gatorade with vitamins. Marketed as a 'water+'. Ummm....last time I checked water didn't have sugar in it.

I totally agree. I like drinking the stuff myself when I don't want soda or just plain water, but I don't do that often.

I am a Coke kind of guy, will take Root beer on occasion.

They still have it at the gas stations down here. Used to chug that stuff and then bounce off the walls for hours back in the day.
It was like legal crack.

It's all over the place here! Jolt is awesome.

My all time favorite however, is Vanilla Coke. I can't believe they stopped making it..

RC Cola for me.

I used to like that Clear Pepsi stuff they sold for a hot minute.

A friend of mine who works for one of the Big Two told me that in the Northeastern United States, Pepsi outsells Coca Cola three to one. Elsewhere in the United States, Coca Cola outsells Pepsi by roughly the same ratio. I have no idea what to make of that.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

Coke retains a massive hold in the southeast and midwest, where it is quite common to refer to ANY carbonated beverage as COKE. Forget the name of this concept, but it's the same thing with q-tip's instead of cotton swabs and other things that dominate market shares.

Coke or Pepsi, that's part of the reason America is FAT FAT FAT.

The only think I drink these days is cold green tea. No calories, no fake sweetness to release insulin into my blood, and lots of catekin (sp?) to help me burn some fat.

I love it. Tastes great and is really refreshing.

Here's the "Coke/Pop/Soda" map. By "midwest" hoosierdaddy apparently means, "only indiana" when it comes to calling everything Coke. Otherwise, that's a southern thing.

You see that ones right in the middle? That's Indianapolis and the doughnut counties surrounding it, where 1.8 million or so of us live. Meaning 1/3 of the population.

Also, I grew up in an area that was strongly Butternut and it was either: "coke" or "pop". Use was fairly interchangeable.

Guess it is only an Indiana thing "Midwestern" wise. Indiana is the northernmost state of the south though, so it makes sense.

Yeah, when I looked at the map I figured that's why you said "midwest" (being a hoosier n' all).

That's cool, but you're going to have to explain what "Butternut" means... :)

"Butternuts" are the group of people that generally migrated from Tennessee & Kentucky into southern Ohio and southern Indiana in the 1800's. An entirely different group than populated northern Indiana which were mainly New Englander's migrating from there and Pennsylvania through Ohio to Illinois and Indiana. Thus, one group had a much larger concentration of "southern" values, which actually permeated pretty far north until it came into contact with "the Region" folks who were more dominated by Chicago & more "northern" culture.

Butternuts from Ohio and Indiana fought, percentage wise if I remember correctly, on the side of the Confederacy in the Civil War. It's a dynamic that saw the state of Indiana as the hotbed of early resurgent KKK activity and a mainstay thereafter until the 90's, after "Birth of a Nation" in the 1900's.

So, there are 3 distinct sections of Indiana, "the Region" which is basically dominated by Chicago, "Indianapolis", and the rest of the state which is filled with rednecks.

<---------------- Grandparents are all rednecks. Both of my parents were 1st generation college students.

That's Nuka-Cola or Quantum-Cola, if you're feeling especially suicidal...
