But....b-b-but Korn used seven-string guitars! :p

Never cared for them, really. I DO remember them having those cheesy Ibanez guitars though.

That new U2 album is getting awful reviews from what I've seen.

Beastie Boys just reissued Paul's Boutique, which is probably mt favorite thing they ever did. Awesome stuff on that album - way ahead of its time.

Have to disagree RLY :p
In their Genre Korn were awesome, but the last two albums (since head found god and left) were poor.

If at any point a band does a duet with Amy Lee, then it's time to give up all hope of them ever doing something worthwhile again.

That was probably one of the worst songs I have ever heard...pure cheese.

My girlfriend has killed the radio 5 seconds into the song every time it has played. I can thankfully say I have never heard it :p

Although I did hear her ruining 'Broken', which is why I've given up hope of Seether making a good album again.

Tbh Metallica are highly over rated, bit like maiden and such.
Newer bands need ro come forth and take place really
Like metallica were good in the 80's but not now.
Also linkin park. they sold out for money really, Minutes to midnight was horrendous.

Political correctness?
Bah who needs that!

How bout Rob Zombie. I loved the White Zombie stuff. I was with my gf the other day and i was listening to Thunder Kiss '65 and then my gf put in living dead girl and dragula. I just dont like his solo stuff, not hardcore/twisted enough.

I couldnt coment on Zombie, the only stuff I've heard is dragula and one other song.

thankfully the Amy Lee duet doesnt get played anywhere here. ever I witnessed it on youtube and vomited though.

I don't think Linkin Park sold out for money, they were the biggest selling artist of the noughties at one stage, they didnt need to. They were always into their breakdowns and remixing afaik. doesn't make it good, but I don't think they can sell out on being crap

The first band that came to mind for me was 'finger eleven'. Their first two albums were pretty decent, especially the second one. However they pretty much completely changed their sound and became big time radio friendly. Effing sucks.
And so the First denied their Mother,
in their fury, and so were cast out,
doomed children of Mother Dark.

true dat...loved "Tip" and "The Greyest of Blue Skies", amazing stuff, the third one was "meh", I didn't hate it, but it was pretty AOR compared to the earlier stuff.

I may have been more forgiving because I saw them perform this album live before it was released (and it was a good show...).

The latest one really, REALLY sucks!

Too bad, bacause they are talented and the singer has an amazing voice.

Stone Temple Pilots completely changed their sound on their third album. Once I decided to judge it on it's own merits it was pretty good.

Blood Sugar Sex Magic was the last great RHCP album everything after is crap.

Pearl Jam is re-releasing Ten sometime this or next month. I "got" the new version of Evenflow. The vocals are almost perfect WRT the original but the music seems to have gotten a little simpler.

meh, they were quality on that first album as far as hard rock goes.

Just listen to the solos in "love on the rocks" and "believe in a thing called love". Some of the best I've heard.

I know they're silly, but they're talented silly people.

I guess you're right, I just found it hard to see past the rock cliches. I remember hearing their first single on the radio and enjoying it, but then after seeing what they looked like I went right off them. Probably says more about my musical snobbery than the darkness though :o

I always viewed that as the point of The Darkness I guess, kind of a party rock revival...which is probably the reason the cliché-ness didn't really bother me.

Its like they took the best cliches of every party rock band ever and rolled it into one massive cliché-fest. On purpose.

Justin Hawkins appeared on an episode of Top Gear. He was wearing a massive LED belt buckle with "Justin from The Darkness" scrolling across it. It was such a rock cliche it actually became cool :o

Hmm, seems I'm actually getting a bit nostalgic for the band now...

The J. Geils Band started as a hard rocking bluesy band but turned into shitty 80s pop. Blech.

You cannot beat their Live" Full House" album.
