I thought I'd make this thread while I sit and growl at my PC.

I downloaded Mass Effect off Electronic Arts homepage yesterday, expecting to play it with a bit of a hangover today.

But will it work? Noooo. Stupid fucking game won't start for some reason.

Anyway, I'd been looking forward to finding a cheap version of it somewhere, since the game sounds interesting.

Knights of the Old Republic just in the Milkyway instead, with updated graphics and more bang bang for your buck is not something to be ignored.

Anyone else played it or looking into it?

Yes. It's quite good. I found the storyline a little laking, but the actual gameplay is enjoyable, being a kind of rpg 3rd person shooter. It's also quite a big game, while it doesn't have a huge amount of replay value, if you're of the exploring persuasion like myself, you can spend hours on it.
The character design is, to be honest, epically customisable, and the abilities are fairly original. Even though after playing a game through with a "mage" type character, I still dunno precisely what each spell does/how the mechanics work.
Good game, all in all though.

Meh,

I still haven't gotten past some mining colony place. Like the 3rd planet?
Pretty much given up on the game really I guess.
Though many people still seem to rave on its awesomeness.

I thought the combat was extremely clunky really.

Kinda felt like there was too much running around/talking and not enough killing too. Game needs more Killing
Game needs more Killing!

There's lot more killing later. You're on my least fav level, Hume. I hated that place, it was fucking massive and pointless. Most of the rest of the game is much more fun.

Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

I loved Mass Effect, thought the story was great and abilities/ items were good too. It starts off a little slow but then the action becomes sick. I explored every possible planet and system so I really got my money's worth, and I am playing though it again (while replaying Fallout, CoD: WaW, Gears 2, and L4D).

Mass Effect 2 is one of my top 2010 releases that I am looking forward to.

Mass Effect is awesome, one of my favourite games ever!

I've played through it twice, once as a paragon vanguard and once as a renegade soldier...spent around 35 hours each time. It's really entertaining :D :D
Things and stuffs...and other important objects.

NOOOOOOO!!!

Just spoke with customer service for twenty minutes while some swedish clerk desperatly tried to find a solution.

Of course I'd already tried everything he suggested... because I'M NOT AN IDIOT!

How ever the developers obviously were since it turns out that my computer isn't compatible with the game!

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUU......

Don't worry, Apt, it's not that great. It lacks something, though it's hard to put my finger on it. Somehow it seemed a little soulless.

And yeah, the combat is a bit clunky.

The only thing the game lacked imo was short load times.

It pissed me off to no end to have to be in an elevator that moved slower than death, because the game was loading.

That sounds like Portal.

Anyway, I'll never know now. Who the fuck develops a game thinking "hmm, 64 bit processors are the future of pcs, but hey, I can't arsed to actually make the game compatible with that kind of bullshit"?!

I've borrowed one of my friends copies of Call of Duty 4 instead. So far it's just as great as COD2, a bit more clunky though.

CoD4 may just be my favorite game of all time so far.

It was so incredibly good, and the multiplayer was revolutionary. I played that so much, still do sometimes.
