There isn't that long of a span between the books, for Avowed anyways, for the CG to be scattered across the globe in some great Disporia. And the title of Disporia lends itself to a larger time frame then the 5+ years between GotM and RotCG. Plus it seems that in RotCG that the search for Prince K'Azz has been going on for a long time.

Hopefully SE and ICE will put together a concordance after they are finished with the main series, that will clear up the missing links and loopholes<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Either he wasn't actually there, leading the Crimson Guard forces on Genebackis, in GotM, or this is another of those annoying inconsistencies that this book has introduced. To be fair to ICE, I don't recall any absolute, explicit, can't be denied proof in GotM that K'azz was actually there. People just referred to the Crimson Guard forces as belonging to him, but we never actually saw him, even in the scenes with the leadership of the anti-Malazan forces.

I'm pretty sure there's a chapter heading in either Gardens, Deadhouse or in Memories of Ice which is a record of a conversation between K'azz D'avore and Kallor (and maybe brood) which is recorded by Outrider Hurlochel. Indicates strongly that K'azz was on genabackis. Please look for it if someone here has the book on hand.

EDIT: Shoulda read the whole thread, now I see the stuff about K'azz being a fake XD

K'azz was "lost" in the final battle against the Malazans on Stratem where Skinner stopped Dassem. The Crimson Guard that was on Genabackis was the company led by Shimmer since in RotCG they have a whole bunch of Malazan recruits.

In MoI I think it was Kallor mentions never having met K'azz despite the fact that he was a part of Brood's high command and would have spoken with K'azz if he had actually been there. In addition in TtH Rake is sent a emmisiary "claiming to be Prince K'azz D'vore".

Finally the entire reason for the Guard splitting up was to search for the Prince. There was no way K'azz was actually on Genabackis the guard just pretended he was to fool the malazans.
