Traveller more likely serves the human or mortal empire for which the malazans are fighting for ... hmmm ... if he IS dasseem ... would it mean the empire is fighting against gods and ascendants intervening in the mortal realm ?

Hawl wore a necklace with a talon and like Cotillion talked about her I got the impression that she had belonged to the Talons. But wasn't Nok saying that she died very early on? Perhaps some secret mission for Kellanved and Dancer...

He is one of the Crust brothers, his name is Urko. His brother is another man of the Old Guard who is supposed to be dead, Cartheron Crust.

Weren't Gesler and Stormy part of Dassem's First Sword?

Gryllen; The identities of the Crust brothers are fairly clear. But would you review the reasons why you think Traveller is Dassem Ultor? Granted both were deadly with a sword, but when Cotilion speaks of Traveller, he says he (Traveller) was with him (Cotilion) from the beginning. Conversely, when admiral Nok talks to Tavore about the family he says that Dassem Ultor turned up later. Is this significant? Possibly, Traveller was the (unknown) founder of the Talons and kept his identity secret all along.

Is it at all possible that Hood's betrayal was in fact planned by the three in question[Dassem,Dancer and Kellenvad]in order to speed D & K's ascention? They already have the throne of the T'lan imass and now they could also gain a foothold in Kurald emurlahn, and, now with the whirlwind godess gone they could use that to patch up the shattered warren and take on Hood in unison!!!

Would Shadowthrone and Cotillion let Traveller guard the throne if they thought that he may take it himself? Doesn't sound likely... But why are they so sure he won't?

hmmm, we've discussed this before and come up with different solutions: He kept in the shadows and Nok was wrong or Cottilion may mean the official beginning of the empire, not the beginning of the domination of Unta...

I couldn't find the old thread with the discussion on Traveller's identity, however, if Traveller is a new character, and I'm inclined to believe it, he is one that has been around since the birth of Kellanved's empire (by Cotillion's admission) and one of whom Kellanved himself was a bit shy. Hence my suggestion that he was involved in the Talon (as Cotillion's 2ic?). Traveller was also in the company of Hawl, whom even her husband (Nok) thinks has passed on (is she another recruit of the Talon?). I realise that Nok could be mistaken or lying, but to second guess an apparently honest account is a bit futile. Traveller is still loyal to the Malazan (or maybe the human) empire, and is manifestly still serving Kellanved and Cotillion.

Yeah, adjutant is a modern military title. I think it refers to an officer from another regiment attatched to a regiment. 'The Adjutant' in my OTC was a professional soldier attatched for a year at a time to help train us part-timers.

i thoght that first sword was a title (Dassem's), not a group of people, or a company like the bridgeburners.

That Traveller guy surely seems like Dasseem, I mean from what we do know of Daseem, he some how fits the description...of the reportedly missing personPosted Image. Also of how he was ready to use that sword of darist. I wonder why he is so singularily ready to defend the throne. Anybody?

He understands the implications of someone finding and using the Throne of Shadow. It's possible he also knows who lies sleeping there... and if he is Dassem that would make sense
