this is my first post so pls dont brutalise me :zanth: not sure if this has been answered yet, but, from what i read i was lead to believe that Rell was the Segulah 1st. he speaks about how he reached the highest martial rank of his sociaty before been banished by the elders, (or something similier to that) and i am just looking on some confirmation on this.

I don't think so. What he talks about is more becoming part of the Agatii than being the best. From comments in MoI made by Mok (I think?) the first is pretty much a recluse living on the island.

Indeed, Rell wasn't the first. he was top ranks though, but not second or first.

We don't know who the real first is. Some might argue about it being Mok in truth (since Mok was sent on a mission by the first, said to be done so because the first wanted this competent rival as far away as possible) but I don't believe that.

So we don't know who Seguleh first is. Not for sure anyways.

I thought it was implied that he wasnt that high at all. Like not in the top 30 or so. He had a difference of opinion on his skills with a GROUP of higher ranked Seguleh. Thats what led to his banishment. I took that to mean he was not in the top 20 or 30...maybe I am wrong.
I have seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter at the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in the rain...."

When i read it my first opinion was he was around 10 or 15 and had an argument with the elite, but thats just what i thought at the time.
I've always been crazy but its kept me from going insane.

I know this has been more or less sorted, but I figured I'd throw in some quotes for good measure.

Quote

"I was young. Very full of myself. I had been promoted to the highest martial body of my people. One of the youngest ever to have been honoured".

...

Quote

"I did the unthinkable - I disputed a ruling. The judges, all my superior in rank of course, re-emphasised their judgment".

I took the first quote to mean he had just been promoted into the Agatii (sp?) no? So he'd have been well down the bottom of the list.

The first is indeed the Agathii, that doesn't mean he didn't have a rather high rank by the time he got kicked out of seguleh lands though...

Rell wasn't well down the list... I'm guessing 20th or something like that.

I don't know where from, but I do vaguely recall someone (Envy? Senu?) saying that although the Agatii is the top, there is a number of better seguleh who are in another group. Something like the top 20?

I would love to see that quote if you could direct me to it.

Memories of Ice, p. 129 references a Seguleh (Tool tells Toc the Younger) with an unmarked mask who reigns as champion over all of them.

If I am right, and I'm not sure I am, it would be in MoI during one of the earlier Toc segments.

That's the Seguleh 1st. You'll notice that all the other Segs have a number of marks equal to their rank minus one.
