It's not the same thing at all. No ranked player is motivated to reveal, that is claim truthfully, since the communicating leaders of the other factions would know exactly how to take him out and could do so with little risk. So everybody naturally denies or at least discourages the notion that they are ranked. Openly claiming to be a BM specifically is a different thing since it makes you a target for other BMs if you are believed. A little uncertainty is a good thing.

You're going to have to explain to me the difference between claiming BM and claiming not to be 1st, 3rd or 7th. Because from a logical standpoint they're the same thing.

yes, they're the same thing ultimately, but the motivation behind it is different. He's claimed not to be a leader in a different post. But of course a leader is just as motivated to say that as a BM for obvious reasons. Then he posts in such a way as to suggest he isn't the 7th but of course a real 7th is motivated to say that very thing. BM's, to my mind, should cultivate a little uncertainty to protect themselves from the other Blackmasks. What I'm saying is that if you claim to be a BM and you expect to be believed, you're asking to be murdered. Anyway, taking Kaschan's ass-backwards way of claiming seriously, I have doubts and wouldn't risk trying to kill him at night so let's lynch him. If this were a regular game I'd probably fight to keep him around for another day at least because I like his reasoning, but it's merc, he's not my leader and I come from the school of 'almost always lynch'

I'm just slightly peeved that HP made all those gigantic, structured posts about something nobody really care at the moment like Rashan's comments, then dropped a vote on me "for reasons stated above", whatever that means.

He never ever considered to mention that I was not the only lynch candidate, so I'm asking him for more info.

1) You are one of two viable lynching candidates. I don't think it's realistic to doubt any longer that either you or Galain will be lynched today.
2) Galain I think is almost certainly a BM - it took me a while to come to that decision and I may be wrong, but I think it's a safe risk and I don't think I'll lack for help come nighttime if you take my meaning.

So you're basically say that you realized that Galain was also a lynch candidate (since all you want is a lynch, even though you "like me"), but somehow you think he's a BM for reasons you won't say but really hope are true?

After rereading the arguments and defences again, I feel I am more convinced by the case on Kaschan, so I am going to:

I've been reading through the cases lately and Galain's case has certainly been weakening. Kaschan's been able to point out numerous arguments that have been made in concert to push a lynch on him.

To be honest, I don't like either of them and I know they aren't my leaders. Kaschan is better at making his case/argument, but the case (and train's momentum) remain. I'd be happy with lynching either.
