I am just reading the Reapers gate. Suddenly Toc the Younger appears in the RedMask world of Awl. How did he get there? Did I miss some chapters so far?
I was waiting for Steve E to finish the ten novels before I begin reading. Any way, could not wait any longer and hoping that by time I get to the eight novel, the series will be complete. Like Robert Jordan' Wheel of Time or George Martin book, it look like this a dream that these novels will ever be completed. Steve E can write!!!

The Grey Swords leave Genebackis at the end of MoI and apparently wind up in the employee of the Awl.

I first thought it was the Perish, but guess not.
In TtH (don't worry, no spoilers), we find out they went down to Elingarth and bought ships. Then off they went.

It has been proven beyond all reasonable doubt that the most powerful force on Wu is a bunch of messed-up Malazans with Moranth munitions.

Toc the Younger and the Grey Swords left Genebackis bound for Lether after receiving visions of some kind from Togg and Fanderay. Something to do with the coming clash of powers on Lether and the need for them to be there. They took a contract from the Awl to fight the Letheri Empire and were betrayed by the Awl, slaughtered to the man. Toc the Younger was the rider between the two forces and was with the Awl when the Awl betrayed the Grey Swords. Rather than leave him behind to speak of their betrayal, and already shamed beyond belief by their betrayal, they clubbed him on the head and brought him along as a prisoner whom they later did not have the guts to kill; instead imprisoning him beneath their "woman's hut" hoping he would just up and die. Red Mask freed Toc the Younger after he took control of the Awl.

For Toc the younger, is this story, RG before GotM, DG and HoC, or does it happen after? because after HoC he is in a new body (Ancaster I think).
After HoC, are they the prequels? Considering the size of his novels it would have been easier to read them from the start than jumpin in with GotM

NO. A thousand times no. Midnight Tides is a relevant portion of completely different history. The Bonehunters is entirely new. Reaper's Gale ties The Bonehunters to Midnight Tides.
I just saw that you've read through HoC. STAY AWAY from these forums. Stuff is going to get ruined for you big time.
Just read the books in the order they are published, and things will make sense.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....
