Oh, and NO FUCKING GT because GT is FUCKING FANFIC and badly written fanfic at that. Its only virtue was being drawn better, but that didn't make up for the fact that it was even MORE badly written than DBZ (!) and otherwise lame. Any mention of SS4 or Vegita's new hairdo is an immediate cue for me to move onto something else.

Wow, did I actually manage to scare everyone away?

The first chapter is well under way. I've decided to do a songfic, which is a popular style of fanfiction where the events of the story are shaped around the lyrics of a song. I'm using Carmina Burana, though, because I kick ass. 25 songs, so there will be at least 25 chapters, and I'm making my own translations of the lyrics, not to change the meanings of the words, but to fit the context of the story (there are always choices in translation - for example, "fortuna" is usually translated as "fate", but I'm going to use "destiny" instead, because the connotations, while only slightly different from those of "fate" or "fortune", fit the story better). I will have to change the genders of a few words. The references to mythology that are in Carmina Burana are small, but I can work them into the story.

Carmina Burana very nearly tells the story I have in mind perfectly and completely. But I think I will end up adding some interlude chapters to fill out the story. I just don't know how many yet.

Oh, and Carmina Burana has been used as fanfic material before, but I read enough of that story to determine that they didn't mesh the plot with the lyrics (and music) nearly as thoroughly as I mean to.

My DBZ is rusty, but there's a nifty DBZ Wiki I can use (already the memories are coming back), and I even found a timeline that graciously ignores the existence of the fanfic known as GT.
