Most of you should be able to see a gallery option somewhere around the top right of your screen. Haven't set up all the permissions yet in terms of who can post and whatnot, but all moderators, super mods, admins, artists, and malaz regulars should be able to use it. Useful feedback is welcome here. So please upload some images, make some albums, etc., see how it works for you

As far as I can tell, only the creator of the album can post images in it, which is unfortunate.
edit: album, not gallery

Yes it could lead to some duplication.
We'll probably need to check the permission thoroughly though, as it is early days

Well, looks like everybody should be able to post images directly to a category...if anybody's able, try posting an image or two in the Awesome/Weird/Funny Arse Pics Category - just don't create an album and see if it works

Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

heh, not sleeping Illy - just lurking
OK cool so that works, multiple people can contribute to a category, just not to any albums within a category created by another user, so we'll probably need a few more categories, which I think we can only create through the admin cp so...any ideas?

There could be a members pics section, not sure exactly how you'd phrase it, but for things like the malazan get togethers etc, or the members posting silly pics of themselves. There used to be a thread along those lines.
Can't think of other categories at the moment.

Cool beans. I just uploaded 10 of my cover scans to the Books Covers gallery.

It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"

I reckon funny pics will get too big.
Wouldn't it be better to have seperate ones for:
Animal pics/cat pics/whatever.
Demotivational pics.
Flow charts.
And then a general one?

Looks nice!
Is there any way to have the image titles displayed/descriptions displayed under a photo and/or in the photostrip on the bottom (maybe when you place the mouse over it?). I believe it is somewhat doing that in that it is showing the "filename", but the "file's name" would be better.
So for example, in book covers there is a HoC cover that when you hold the mouse over it in the photostrip it says "tn_gallery_6507_3_141600.jpg", but it would be better if it displayed "HoC - US Tor MMPB 1st printing": the name that shows at the top if you go to it. Not too crucial for book covers, but for others it could be useful...
Edit: recommended new Category: Malazan Resources, with an Album for maps. Would also contain Draconean trees and other useful things like that.

And this might seem fussy, but if we are going to put up images of peoples artwork, like the book covers etc, then it's only fair to give the artists name. As a wannabe photographer it's an old bugbear of mine that people so casually use other people's work without credit. And since we do know who the artists are, it's only fair I think?

Point taken. We've just started so it's a work in progress.
ETA: couldn't find the artists' credit for the Reaper's Gale cover - is it Steve Stone? In any case, by all means comment on any image you feel needs an artist's credit giving the artist's name so that it's a simple matter to edit. Thanks and enjoy
@D'rek - dunno about that , will have a look re: changing mouse-over message..
Malazan Resources or something similar sounds good

Cheers for that Hetan. Hope my suggestion didn't sound rude or ungrateful for this idea. But at least if we actively give credit then there is less likelihood of any complaints from the publishers or artists themselves (which can happen).
plus i checked my copy of Reapers Gale, and if it's the one with Rhulad sitting on the Throne, then yes the artist in question is Steve Stone (bottom of back cover, tiny print, just under the barcode).
Thanks again,

Not rude at all, and I'm in 100% agreement with you.
I needed to post some images to kick things off and input is always welcome when it is constructive.
I'll get round to sorting those things out at the weekend I hope when I have more time.

I notice that the Book Covers gallery has disappeared from the front page of the Gallery. Unfortunately, there's no link to get to a second page!
