@cause, you're a pretty crisp talent yourself, so either way its going to be a fun challenge :D

He Dibs, are we gonna start a seperate thread for people to write their death scenes?

OK, just doublechecking it's a 200 word death scene, PM'd to a judge, by Friday? Hmm. MIGHT not PM it to Mezla. That would be mean.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

Ok. Here's my votes in case there's a draw:

DIB vs Cause(Cause)

The first two posts were both very funny. Then DIB became more serious and I must plaud someone so masochist to spear his character with a lance. However the scene were the two spectators were talking about the fight and one got confused because he didn't understand who was fighting made me burst to laugh. So my vote goes to Cause.

Temper vs Grief(Grief)

I wonder what poor Grief will do with a one-armed, acid-sprayed character. Anyway while I think Temper was greatly original, Grief gets my vote due to a great writing style. Also liked the idea that Ambir is a virus to our world.

Incidentally, I wonder if anyone's worked out the inspiration for my character's human form yet. There's enough clues in this thread and the entries to guess, if you're familiar enough with it.

I was thinking Lu Bu, mostly because of the halberd and the antenna-like things he seems to have in any modern artistic imagining of him...

Who writes the death scenes?

I kinda love it when D'rek unleashes her nerd wrath, as I knew she would here. Sorry innocent bystanders, but someone's gotta be the kindling.

Correct. The mantis shrimp picture with the DO NOT PURSUE LU BU caption was also a hint.

I imagine the winner. Oh, OK. Seems fairer.

Understanding? ... urm..Yes, we're very understanding. All of us are. By the way, when you receive that package from Norway you might want to.. er.. refrain from opening it. Throw it away as quick as you can might also be an option.

OK, seems we're still waiting for some to end their fights, so I'll start my voting/comments, and will update this post as the new ones appear. There's also a few finished fights I have to re-read to vote.

Note: to avoid being influenced/confused, I didn't read any of the other comments and votes on this thread so far, so sorry if some of it is rehashed.

Illy - Melza: Illy
Morgoth - Bauchelin: Morgoth
Sin - Alt: Alt
D'rek - STd: STd.

---

Illy - Melza: An interesting read, with a light feeling, like my fight with Tapper I appreciated that. Illy had some good jokes in there, if his tennis joke is original, he should start some stand-up comedy :). The Shrimperor is a bit like Duke, mostly a character with little story. Melza's general idea is much better and more interesting, and I'm curious to see how it develops. Still, I felt that, of the last two posts, there was too little actual fighting in Melza's, most of it was taken by more story. Then again, in the state Illy left her character after his 3rd post, I don't know if she could have avoided that. Still, by a very little margin, I vote Illy.

---

Morgoth - Beauchelin: Lots of good fighting and violence there, a satisfying read. For the first two posts, I prefered Beauchelin's, because it was a good mix of character and DeathMatch, while Morgoth's was purely character, like a second intro post. However, for the rest, Morgoth had an excellent fighting post, but why why Beauchelin's so short? It was good, but it seems he just ran out of steam, so for this I vote Morgoth.

---

Alt - Sin: That was quite of an interesting fight too. Two very interesting characters, although alt's remains my favorite of all those playing now. I like the way he continued his description, and his arrival in the ring. Shin's had a very distinctive style, it is often hard to catch what is happening but that's the whole point of his Spider-boy. I'll give my vote for Alt because of a technicality, which is the long paragraph in Shin's post made from the POV of alt's character. It took me out of the "discussion" between the two fighters, which are the alternating posts.
---

D'rek - Sir Thursday: Well, I couldn't judge before, and after re-reads I still can't. This is the best fight of round 1 so far IMO. Both players have interesting writing and stories, and they play with each other perfectly, you can see how they incorporate elements of each other's posts. I also like how the fight is playing with each other's strengths and weaknesses. I honestly don't know who to chose, but since I have to I'll go with STd because of the unique 1st person narrative and because of the amusing fact he's rooting against his own fighter.

Come to think of it, do we really know that for certain? Perhaps she's just a lesbian?

It would explain quite a lot, most of all her weird attraction to me, even lesbians find me irresisitible after all.
