As to great moments in the series, number one for me would be "'We left a debt of blood,' she said, baring her teeth. 'Malazan blood. And it seems they will not let that stand.'"

Ok, first time i read em - 100 pages in, it took that little time! the siege of Pale, when Rake shows up, and Tayschrenn starts blasting his own mages. Nightchill gets ripped in half by a demon, A'karonys is frozen then shattered, and Hairlock gets blasted from the waist down. Thats when I thought, Damn! these books are awesome.

Other than that first intense moment, here's my favourites up to the end of Bonehunters, what I've read so far.

Baudin's fight with the D'ivers in the middle of Raraku : My lord, what a hard, hard man.

Kalam's fight against the ENTIRE claw outfit: My jaw was dropped the whole time.

Coltaine's demise outside Aren: That was so intense, I couldn't stop reading, but I wanted him so badly to survive I almost did. That was AWESOME and heartbreaking all at the same time.

GotM: When Quick Ben mentioned there is gas beneath the city they were gonna blow up. I could see in my mind 1 HUGE cloud of fire rising into the sky.

DhG: Pretty much all of it. From the prologue, to Icarium and Mappo, to the blood flies that bit Felisin, to the descriptions of Raraku, how Baudin fought off the rat D'ivers, Chain of Dogs, and the crucifixion of the soldiers.

MoI: Itkovian's death.

Deadhouse Gates was loaded with them [Holy S*** moments] though... When the enemy tribe came in on the side of the Malazans...

That was the most epic moment I have ever seen (just thinking about it makes me excited!) When the leader of that enemy tribe tells Coltaine that the best of the tribes is not his but, "The Wickans, the Wickans, the Wickans!" I had to stop and go "Hell yeah!!!" And this just makes the scene of Coltaine's fall even more tragic. Coltaine's army was so awesome that even their enemies revered them and betrayed their brethren for Coltaine's sake. That moment will remain in my head forever as the greatest OMG scene of all time.

GotM - closest I can get to one such moment is Adjunct Lorn's death just because it comes out of no where for me and I was just starting to get fascinated with her fate.
DHG - Pormqual doing nothing and his troops paying for it.
MoI- hard to say, Whiskeyjack's death was so vague(in my opinion) that it didn't have much of an effect on me. That being said I would tie the two scenes together. First being Brukhalian and a company of Grey Swords going to their deaths knowing they will die and knowing they are being betrayed but going anyway and the second moment is discovering who the Pannion Seer is.
HoC - Easiest one for me and the moment that has hit me the most in the series is Tavore killing her sister Felisin. I know so many people don't like Felisin and I'm not much better but it just hit me the way she dies silently asking a question to her sister that we all know the answer to but Felisin would never and Tavore never even realizes what she did. Felisin was free of the Goddess too, which made it worse.
MT - Also easy for me but not going to spoil anything.
The world needs hypocrites...unfortunate but true.

GotM: When for the first time Quick Ben unleashes SEVEN Warrens.
DG: Coltaine's fall and Kalam verses the claws.
MoI: When Whiskeyjack died I had to set the book down for a few minutes just to think and be depressed.
HoC:Felisin youngers rape.

GotM: Rake vs. the demon lord and Rake vs. the mages at pale
DhG: Coltaines final stand and death
HoC: the conversation about cold iron vs hot iron (I laughed out loud at that)
"Eins Zwei Drei Hasslehoff!!!"

GotM: The epic fight between rake and the demon lord thing.
DG: Have to say the way Duikers extremely sad story was brought to a close was definately one of those moments. And the bloodflies with Felinsin, Baudins death, the start of the book. DG had tons.
MoI: For me id have to say it was the death of Whiskeyjack. had to stop reading after that. Took a while for that to finally sink in, was pretty depressing. Also when High Mage Tayschrenn obliterates half of the walls of the Pannion Seers city!
HoC: When Karsa singlehandedly slaughtered the 2 Deragoth , the sheer power and ferocity was overwhelming!!

Keep thinking of more now...but ges il just have to leave it at that for now.

"Couldn't hit a cows arse with a banjo" - Billy Connely

"Ignoring him, she stepped back out of the ellipse and began singing in the Woman's Language, which was, of course, unintelligible to Iskaral's ears. Just as the Man's Language-which Mongora called gibberish-was beyond her ability to understand. The reason for that, Iskaral Pust knew, was that the Man's Language was gibberish, designed specifically to confound women." - BH

obviously pretty much everything else you all said (up to HoC) these are a few lesser mentioned things (if at all) that caught my eye

GoTM, I think When Rake killed the hounds of shadow and its just like *wow, this guy really is a badass* also
DG, Icarium (sp?) just everything anout him, hes just awesome the scene in particular when hes just realised he built the clock ... thing and that its 90 od thousand years old (i think) was just staggering
MoI, bar the obvious things I think when QB Paran and gruntle are talking about the HoC and Paran decides to legitamise it was pretty interesting and just seeing all of QB's sceming and him holding off the Panions army with his demon illusions was incredebly cool
Hoc, again so many to mention but I think when Erikson introduces Darist to us then kills him pretty soon after was a testament to his chachters, just that he could introduce such a cool charchter and get rif of him was great, and know i dont know what to expect from all the otehr new chachters im going to meet.... also Onrack and Trull going off to the first throne with the shadow army was great for setting the scene for the next time we see them and also when Crokus (im not calling him cutter) acidentaly stumbles onto Shadowthrones plans was very :) to me just the scope of the series really started to hit me then

the part that made my jaw dropped for the longest was when, during a reread of deadhouse gates, they were walking through tremorlor and discovered the body of dassem ultors daughter. i could not believe i had forgotten such and important thing. i was like
