So... Queen Victoria just banished Rose and the Doctor. I'm liking David Tennant's Doctor.

Question about the earlier series, is Bad Wolf a carry-over plot? I found it interesting that 2 episodes in to the new Doctor and the adversary is a big, bad werewolf.

Heh, just watch... That's all anyone should say about Bad Wolf. Watch, and enjoy.

Wait, you said you're in the Tennant part of Doctor Who? You should already know who Bad Wolf is then?

I was going to say. Bad Wolf is from the S1 finale with Eccelston's Ninth Doctor and Rose.

I just wasn't sure if it actually went beyond what happened at the end of the 9th Doctor's episode. It just seems so coincidental.

Ah, no...but that TOOTH & CLAW episode DOES have connotations for the beginnings of Torchwood as an institute (mentioned by Victoria at the end of the ep) which will continue to reappear throughout RTD's time as showrunner (prior to Series5)...but the wolf thing is just a coincidence...that said RTD throws the Bad Wolf line in there now again afterwards mostly for some tongue in cheek reference...but if you saw the last ep of S1, you know the full connotations of the phrase. And if you're on Tennant's first season, there will be a new "bad wolf" type mystery for you. It was RTD's bread and butter to do that.

Also they announced two episode titles.

THE GIRL WHO DIED by Jamie Mathieson & Steven Moffat

THE WOMAN WHO LIVED by Catherine Tregenna

Both are apparently period adventures...and I have no clue if they are related...even though their titles KIND of suggest they might be?

Jamie Mathieson yay! His debut episodes were easily the best thing to come out of last season.

In rare form, I 100% agree PG. I loved his episodes, and can't wait to see what he brings next.

Jenna Coleman is coming to FanExpo this September! At this rate I'm going to have a wall full of Doctor Who photo ops! (I already have ones with Matt Smith and Karen Gillan) Man, it will be cool to meet her!

From the official Series 8 soundtrack:

A Good Man (Twelve's Theme) <----hint the swelling heroic bit comes in at about the 2 minute mark...but it's nice to hear the quiet build to it.

And then there is Murray Gold's stunning reworking of Matt's era "The Majestic Tale (of a Madaman with a Box)" to mash it up with Peter's theme and create "(The Majestic Tale) Of an Idiot with a Box"

The official UK DOCTOR WHO feed on FB and Twitter have told UKers to "stay tuned for 10:30PM tonight" (5:30PM for me)...which jives with about 2:30PM San Diego time (where DOCTOR WHO panel will be dominating Hall H at SDCC).

So methinks this means we can expect a trailer for Series 9. Can't wait!

EDIT: AND Peter Capaldi continues to prove he's one of the best people ever by having gone yesterday to the insane overnight lineup for wristbands to get into Hall H for the DW panel today and talked to/tookselfies with/visited with the fans in line.

Seriously. He's amazing.

WILD SPECULATION:

"What took you so long old man?"
1 - She's a timelord, possibly Susan.
2 - Leela used to call him Old Man didn't she? So......
meh. Link was dead :(

1 - I had the same feeling, which works off the back of his last words to Susan "I shall come back". What's working against it though is that Susan would likely NEVER call her grandfather "old man". But I could still see it being her.

2 - I was thinking Romana III over Leela actually. Especially if we see any of Gallifrey this series. Romana I regenerated into Romana II who we never saw regenerate...so it's entirely possible it's her. Especially if post-Rassilon (cause he was deemed fucking crazeeee) Post-Time War, someone like her ended up in power (Romana II is Lady President of Time Lord High Council in the Big Finish Audios). Leela is entirely possible as well.

3 - I keep seeing people say it's Jenny...but I can't fathom Moffat would throw a one-off RTD-era character like that into the fray.

4 - Strong rumour has the return of Davros, and that one shot in the trailer DOES kind of show Clara and Missy standing together in a non-offensive way. What if The Doctor and Missy team up to stop Davros?

My thought for Maisie Williams was Jenny as well (that's the Doctor's daughter, right? That's who I immediately thought of, and I feel like Maisie Williams would totally do that character justice!)

Regards that shot of Missy and Clara - I agree that they didn't look like they were antagonizing each other in that one shot in any way, so my guess is that Clara has to team up with Missy to save the Doctor from some kind of mortal peril!

My issue with Jenny is that she's fairly useless as a DW character. There are far stronger characters, with thicker backstories, from the Doctor's past that could be brought back in over someone like Jenny who was just crafted out of some of his DNA and was kind of clever. If that makes sense?
