RTD always aired the WHOLE season starting in April....Moffat airs half seasons and the throws in long breaks becuase he "thinks it's more exciting that way"

It is NOT more exciting this way! Well, excitingly frustrating maybe, in a very BAD way!

Like I said, mid-season breaks are the devil and I hate them! I hate them I hate them I hate them!

It's especially frustrating for a guy like me who, when I acquire a new tv-series, like to watch it as fast as possible with as many episodes after each other as I can possibly squeeze in. Sure, with new seaons of whatever I have to wait a week between episodes and that's fine, but then put in a six month break in the middle? No, that's something that can really turn me off a series.

I would actually have less of a problem with it airing in different chunks if they were actually different seasons...but splitting one season up into 3 different chunks I feel makes it lose its cohesion as a story I guess?

He's actually gone on record as saying he was attempting to make it run like US TV with season's breaking over summer and coming back in Fall...but neglects to realize that UK shows like DW run 13 episodes, not 26 episodes of US TV shows...so it doesn't work the same way.

So, back in November BLOGTOR WHO had a post up claiming all Eleven Doctors would be needed in the 50th Anniversary to help Eleven himself...It was up for only a few minutes and Cameron abruptly took it down and denied all knowledge of it...(still does when I ask him.....methinks the Beeb got to him)

BleedingCool, however picked it up before it was taken down and reported it.

Now yesterday and today two different news outlets have run the story that the episode will be called THE ELEVEN DOCTORS and will feature all Eleven (yes, even the three dead ones who will be recreated using studio "trickery") previous incarnations of the Doctor helping out the current incarnation.

It's still just rumour at this point, but the more it gets reported, the closer I think it is to true....but to be honest the most telling thing is that Cameron had the post up proclaming it was so back in November, but it was taken down very quickly...that just spells "truth" to me.

At any rate....Eight (Paul McGann) and Ten (David Tennant) on screen together please. Thanks!

Tangentially related to DOCTOR WHO (at least taking place in the Whoniverse) is a Sonic film project by multiple actors and crew in a spinoff called THE MINISTER OF CHANCE http://ministerofcha...hance/Home.html , which is kind of crowdfunded episode by episode ($10,000 / ep) and are eventually made available for Free on iTunes as a podcast (you can currently get the 9-minute prologue and first 3 full eps (35-40 minutes each)...they star two previous Doctor's (Paul McGann and Sylvester McCoy), and multiple British thespians of repute....Julian Wadham, Jenny Agutter, Lauren Crace, Tamsin Greig...the list goes on.

Anyways, the story is about the Minister of Chance, who is a spinoff DW character...one of only five Time Lords to have survived The Second War Of Heaven during which a coalition attack comprised of various enemy factions, including whole Sontaran battlefleets, and led by none other than The Omega himself, is launched on the Time Lord Home World Gallifrey leaves it destroyed. Note: These events predate the Last Great Time War (against the Daleks, mentioned in DW 2005)...Gallifrey actually survived since the Lady President Romana III created 9 Clone worlds so it would survive...but the five didn't know that. I digress.

Anyway, so that's the backstory for the character, and in this story the Minister is joined by a barmaid named Kitty on a planet where an island nation of scientists has been invaded by a nation bent on only magic, and something altogether more nefarious is going on.

I've listened to the existing episodes, and it's quite wonderful so far! Enjoying it immensely, and both McGann and McCoy get to play relative baddies...which is super fun! The Minister himself is very cool...far more self-righteous than the Doctor is, but still super clever and attempting to do good.

Anyways, since it's free it's totally worth checking out, just head over to itunes podcasts and search for Minister Of Chance.

Due to widespread fan discontent about the show's 50th anniversary celebrations — mainly centered on the special itself being only 60 minutes long and only eight other episodes plus a Christmas special airing in 2013 — the BBC has taken the unusual set of releasing this response to one fan's query:

I understand that you are feel there are insufficient programmes planned to mark the 50th anniversary of the series. I also note that you are unhappy with the way in which series 7 has been split into two parts. Whilst I appreciate your concerns, we haven't announced what we have planned to mark the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who yet, but we would like to assure you that fans won't be disappointed. Additionally, please note that the decision to schedule series 7 in two parts was a creative one and we're sorry you are unhappy about this.

While the decision to split season 7 between 2012 and 2013 probably was indeed a creative decision, considering it allowed Steven Moffat to construct a proper swan song for the Ponds in the first half and to introduce Jenna-Louise Coleman's new character in the second half — not to mention move the show into the winter months, as has been Moffat's stated goal — that doesn't really address the more commonly stated issue that another full season won't kick off until 2014 at the earliest. While the handling of season 7 probably was a creative decision, the non-commissioning of a season 8 for later this year was probably more of a financial one, given the BBC's budget woes.

Anyway, the bigger story here might well be that the BBC isn't officially committing to the single hour-long special as the full extent of the anniversary celebrations, even allowing for Mark Gatiss's docudrama on the genesis of the show. So, if you want to hold out hope for extra Doctor Who anniversary programming, you have the BBC's permission to do so.

Ok, so since a whole whack of them are avail. on iTunes I started watching some Classic Who. I decided to start with the first arc of THE KEY TO TIME, called THE RIBOS OPERATION...starring the 4th Doctor (Tom Baker), Romana I (Mary Tamm), and K-9...which I recall seeing dribs and drabs of as a child but PBS (who used to run WHO in Canada in the 80's) was notoriously bad with their scheduling and I probably saw less of it than I recall.

Anyways, first things first, 4th Doctor = Always win. He is my 4th fave Doctor after Tennant, McGann, and Smith...and he just rocks it...even post-dog bite...which disfigured his mouth and they had a hard time covering up with makeup. His interaction with Romana from the first minute she's in the TARDIS is perfection.

And speaking of Romana....sweet gods...Mary Tamm was absolutely GORGEOUS! I guess it didn't register when I was a kid, but even her first reveal in the TARDIS when they pan up from ballet-like silver shin wraps, up a rather Princess Leia dress (I wonder if that was intentional, or just very 70's) slit up the middle. Adding to the fact that she's a recently graduated Time Lord and can spar with the Doctor, handle herself well in any situation and is as smart as any Time Lord...which makes her just an amazing companion. Enjoying the series immensely so far.

Ah, #4 was always my brother's and my favorite back in the day. If I had time to go back and watch Classic Who, that's exactly the era I'd pick.

I've got THE GENESIS Of THE DALEKS, which I believe predates both the Leela Era and both Romana Era's....(post 3rd Doctor Sarah Jane Smith era)...on DVD, and it's quite entertaining still...though my gf loves pointing out that Davros' voice in it is SCREECHING and hard to tolerate. Considering the lower register, more menacing version in his more recent incarnations, I agree with her. I also have the CAVES OF THE ANDROZANI, which was Peter Davison's 5th Doctor swansong...which is also entertaining....but that is the extent of my Classic Who collection. I'm not collecting 32 seasons as that would be insanity, so I've been picking and choosing good arcs to re-watch....and THE KEY TO TIME is probably one of the only complete seasons I'll buy, as it's 26 episodes, loosely connected throughout, and is Romana I's only time in the TARDIS before regenerating into Lalla Ward's Romana II.

Yeah, an awful lot of Hartnell / Troughton stuff was lost. All of Pertwee's is around, ditto Baker 1, pretty sure all of Davidson, Baker 2, McCoy, McGann, Eccleston, Tennant, Smith is around though.
