Memories of Ice was the most enjoyable for me. It was epic all the way.

Deadhouse Gates comes a close second. The emotional investment you put into the hapless refugees and the horrors the Felisin band went through made for personal reading.

Midnight Tides was fantstic. The beleagured tribes become vicious invaders. The Ceda confrontation was awesome. Ooh, I'm the Warlock King power linked the Chained Brat himself. Pleased to me you, Warlock King. I'm a little man wearing glasses and it's showtime. The angels peeing into the hole they hurled the Assail into was hilarious.

Reaper's Gale was almost like Memories of Ice in epic-ness. So many plotters you didn't know who was going to come out top.

I liked Gardens of the Moon. Don't get me wrong. It's only fifth by a shallow margin.

I didn't like Bonehunters all that much.

I haven't read Toll the Hounds yet...

Last on the list would have to Feast for Crows. I do not find it amusing to see naked mothers and daughter girls waitering on laughing drunk pirates.

Thus, witness . . .

1. Memories of Ice
2. Deadhouse Gates
3. Reaper's Gale
4. Gardens of the Moon
5. Bonehunters
6. Feast for Crows.
If there were no smart people others wouldn't feel inadequate.

Right?

"Here is light. You will say that it is not a living entity, but you miss the point that it is more, not less. Without occupying space, it fills the universe. It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"

I'm the only one who voted House of Chains as number one?

Come on people. If we all agree that House of Chains was the best book, maybe SE would stop jumping around so much between characters in his books.
Just think about it. His genious writing skills would become ever greater! He could rise to the title of THE GREATEST AUTHOR WHO EVER LIVED!!!

...or maybe it is just a matter of taste?
The leader, his audience still,
considered their scholarly will.
He lowered his head
and with anguish he said,
"But how will we teach them to kill?"

Imagine if the entire world knew...

I like to think the world would be a better place if it did.
So, everyone voty for House of Chains!!

We need a new one. I for one have Dust of Dreams now at #1 in my favorite five.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

I'm leaving out DoD because it seems pointless to include it now, so other than that:

+5 MoI
+4 tBH
+3 HoC
+2 MT
+1 RG

Yeah.. no DG.. that's right! Wanna fight about it? Huh?

I'm trying to get a version of my spreadsheet up on Google Docs. Then we can add new books as they come in and people can modify their votes accordingly.
