And I agree with Terez that all those mysteries etc are now seriously done to death - I mean, who gives a s**t who actually killed Asmo? :robo:

The fact that I have never given a shit who killed Asmodean has nothing to do with the fact that it's been discussed to death. :p

Unless he finds laughter and tears again, the world faces disaster.

OK, the tears bit is mentioned already, 10-to-1 the laughter bit (spoiler from Knives, which is considerably better than Crossroads, incidentally) is the probable line from Mat:

Spoiler

Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

I have to admit I've considered that before. But I think that Moiraine will do for both. :p

Bela, it was Bela who killed Asmodean! and yes I agree Moraine's return was never in any doubt at least from my perspective, its one of the few things I looked forward to, the rescue by Mat&Thom and maybe Oilver being involved somehow. I would like to see how BS deals with it.

"Coolest wife: Tuon, or Faile?" - made me laugh, i cant think of two worst women in randland you'd want to be married too :p maybe Cadsuane!

Did anyone like Faile? I kind of wanted her to die before Perrin actually started calling her Faile in her intro book.

Faile needed to die horribly to send Perrin batshit insane, so insane that he kills Cadsuane for being a bitch and Rand for being an insufferable douchebag.

Toun's marginaly better, but not so you'd notice, a flaming balls of death raining from the sky would be a suitable end. I want the book to end with everyone dying, the dark one winning, Mat and min declaring for the forsaken and Ninyeave (sp horrible) to be chained foreverr in the dark ones prison.

There were only a couple of moments when I really hated Faile. The first was the incident with the Ways, where she tricked Loial into letting her come. I can understand her doing that, because Perrin not wanting her to come was just dumb (and if she hadn't gone, maybe he would have done something stupid like turning himself in, which is what he was planning on), but her behavior during the whole incident was just offensive. RJ made up for it with the spanking, though. Wish it had been on screen. The other time I hated her was in Lord of Chaos, before Perrin went off to track down Rand. But she made up for it when they came back - she was awesome with Colavaere. :p Ever since then, she's been fine, really.

Wow, I don't remember half the characters you guys are talking about. And I'll be damned if I'm going to reread the series before the last one comes out. I'll just read it and be confused. There.

Carry on.

I would personally LIKE to forget the first three characters in that list. I can live with Tuon, because if I was the heir to an empire I'd dick around with people all the time too.

Oh, yeah, of course she is. "Hi, I'm the oldest, bitchiest and most annoying Aes Sedai in the world! I'm going to be constantly in your face and trying to piss you off in an attempt to keep you grounded and more human instead of King Asshole but faile miserably and end up sitting around drinking tea made of smug and irritating while I be all superior. Also I will demean and humiliate you in front of your commanders because an imbecilic boychild gets more respect than a nutcase."

I was half-expecting Rand to balefire her and go, "Whoops! Lews did it!"

that e is so intended

I like Rand. Well, ok, when he's being all 'EVERY WOMAN WHO DIED EVER IS MY FAULT CUTCUTCUT' he's irritating beyond belief, but him going mad is interesting and he's one of only a few characters who can tell the Aes Sedai to bugger off. APART FROM CADSUANE DAMN IT GO LIVE IN A COTTAGE FFFFFFFFFFFF

If he got rid of Lews
Spoiler
, or if he got some serious medical care to solve his body's knackered state, I'll be much happier. I'm looking forward to his eventual loosening up moment when Awesome Guy Mat and Pussywhipped Perrin return, too.

Admittedly, when I read through this thread I had no idea who Tuon, Cadsuane and Thom were, but I think I remember Cadsuane now, thanks to Illy - the rotten old Red Ajah biatch. And, is Tuon that spoiled princess who married Mat? Still can't remember who the hell Thom is...

It's been years since I gave an RJ book more than a cursory once-over. I'm really more interested in seeing how it's all resolved than learning about any new characters...

CoT and KoD bored me silly, I remember that much.

If you've forgotten who Thom is, you might as well not bother to read the last book. :p

Is Thom an important character or something? Who is he? I'm sure I'd remember with a little help. Are Green Ajah the bad ones? I thought the Red were bad.

See? I'm totally spacing when it comes to WoT stuff...

It's probably because I read the series up to Winter's Heart in like six months, and since then the books have been released rather slowly. My mind is not a steel trap. Still, I'll read the last one; I like BS's work w/ Mistborn, and hopefully there will be enough reintroduction of characters for me to remember who's who and what's what...

Yes. He's been with the major plotlines since chapter 4 of book 1, with the exception of two brief periods of time.

Slug said:

The gleeman. You know, the guy that tells stories and plays the harp and wears the technicolor dreamcoat. And plays the Game of Houses in his sleep. :p

Slug said:

The Black are the bad ones. Reds are usually bad but not always (we've met a cool one or three). Greens are generally more likable than most Aes Sedai, though of course there are exceptions.

Slug said:

Character re-introduction/plot reminders is not something RJ did much of, and I doubt BS will either. But if you are reading and get lost, you can use the Encyclopaedia WoT Character Profiles to refresh your memory. They're very detailed, especially for the less major characters, for whom it is feasible to record pretty much everything they ever did on the character profile. :p
