OK... You are now reading the post of one overwhelmed individual.

I finished tBH about 5 hours ago, and have spent about 3 of the following hours reading through this (tBH) forum. Incidentally this have caused me to read a lot of spoilers. No worries, I'll probably forget them all in about 2 minutes. On a side note I'm terrible at avoiding spoliers. I managed to accidentally read about both Whiskeyjack's death and Tavore killing Felisin several hundred pages before I reached the events in the book. My own fault, but horrible nonetheless.

Anyway...

This seems to be the most appropriate thread to ask my questions in. I'll just throw them out there in the order I remember them in. Keep in mind that I have not read Reapers Gale, nor ICE's novels, so keep it tBH-current please :D

1) The Jade Statue/Smoke on the Water/Fire In The Sky-event - I just assumed that jade statues crashing into water = otataral (simple chemical reaction)when reading about it. After reading a few threads about it, this still makes the most sense to me.

2) Kalam is now half bleeding to death, half being killed by paralt, but he MAY have gotten into the Deadhouse in time, and will likely return?

3) Where are Trull, Minala, Onrack and the Childrens Crusade actually defending the Shadowthrone? Is this on Drift Avalii or am I confused?

4) There has been a lot of talk about Cartheron and Urko Crust, since I've not read the ICE books I don't know a lot about them aside from them being a part of the Old Guard. Cartheron seems to be in Malaz City (as a fisherman or something), is Urko the hermit who Apsalar, Telorast and Curdle drop in on early in the book?

5) I didn't get the entire Tayschrenn, D'rek thing at the end. Was Tay responsible for killing the entire D'rek priesthood apart from Banaschar? Did he know and apporve? Why did it happen at all? Hellian had apparently stumbled across the truth, but that didn't help me much.

There should have been a lot more questions, but I've forgotten them. My problem is that I'll have to hand in my Masters-thesis in about 7 weeks so I normally only get to read about 15-20 pages each night. Makes it hard to keep up with Erikson at times.

Welcome to the forum. New blood is always good news.

I take it these spoilers are things from later books? If they were they of course should be removed or spoilered. When you find a spoiler click the little report icon in the left corner. That will send a warning to the moderators and they'll take care of it.

It was a mix between a meteor shower of Jade and moon chunks and the Heborics power hands rising from the sea/o-island. It was all a bit confusing really.

No word yet, but he did get into the Azath. In there we know time stops or moves at a crawl, so he's in a waiting position.

The reading by Fiddler before they left suggests that death has been cheated.

It's Drift Avalii allright.

Cartharon Crust is the mad captain from the Ragstopper in Deadhouse Gates. Urko is indeed Keeper from HoC. Both of them appear in RCG.

D'rek killed her own priests because they chose to side with the CG. She/he/it didn't want to get dragged into that conflict so she destroyed them.

Negative. You're mixmatching thrones.

'ShadowThrone' is the title for the God/Kelanved, but also the Throne in Shadowkeep in Meanas. No one is attacking that throne in TB.

Rake hid the Throne of KE (Elder Shadow) on Avalii and left Darist and his own grandkids to guard it. We see how that ends in HoC, with Traveller temporarily on duty and ST sending demons to protect it. In TB we see ST fool the Edur into thinking the Throne of Shadow has been destroyed. Those same Edur then go after...

The First Throne - the Throne of the Imass Ritual that Trull and Onrack and co go to protect and meet Minala and the Company of Shadow and subsequently where QB and Trull fight Icarium in TB, is in a pocket warren on another continent, possibly 7C altho it's rather vague since when Trull and co and later a Letherii force with Icarium travel there they go by warrens with various gates along the way plus timetravel and orgies with cavewomen and stuff...

- Abyss, ...possesses a porcelain Throne....

From HoC, Onrack says the First Throne was moved (in the time of the human First Empire) to a continent south of Seven Cities. Later on he and Trull inquire of Monok Ochem how many T'lan Imass are on Quon Tali to defend the Throne (the answer is none). Thus the First Throne is probably hidden somewhere on Quon Tali, perhaps in one of those cross-over areas that straddles two warrens, like Raraku.

I kinda love it when D'rek unleashes her nerd wrath, as I knew she would here. Sorry innocent bystanders, but someone's gotta be the kindling.
