I will try to be on near the deadline but don't think it looks to good at the moment.
vote anomandaris
I think we need a CF regardless and how this train shakes down tomorrow will be worth watching. Plus all the "my avatar rocks" talk got old on post 4

Back. Time to address some of the inevitable posts following my departure last night.
This is a misrepresentation based on misinterpretation. Its probably my fault for writing an angry post of angriness and not making sure it made sense. The comment which you have so kindly italicised has nothing to do with me working out the mechanics or thinking its a good idea to try and do so. It is perfectly consistent with what I said before, the point being that if you spend the day trying to work out how the mechanics work you will get to the end of the day and still know nothing about the game mechanics.
And where did I claim "results, knowledge and insights"? I just said some of the points were intelligent.
Another similar comment from Ruse.
The game mechanics thing I think I dealt with above. I was not worried about Gamelon having votes, its good that people pick up votes. What bothered me is the possibility that he would me the only person to get votes throughout the day, which has happened a few times on these boards for things on par with an early RI reveal. One bandwagon on day one is not at all ideal. More wagons = more info, more things to dissect further down the game. As such I am glad to see a few other wagons have formed.

Well, catching up after an 18 hour absence without web access has never been so easy.
I'm very much willing to see Telas make his self advertised nice analysis full of quotes, as I for one still know very little about this game apart from numbers, faulty maths and my own PM. What is kinda curious though is that Telas also was the author of this beauty:
It's post number 128.
Somehow, that doesn't mesh with this:
Italics are mine. Seems he didn't stick to his own advice, and did reconsider working out the mechanics, then not sharing them.
With the two posts, Telas has been making a one-hundred-and-eighty degree swing, and claiming results, knowledge and insight at the same time... which is more than I can deliver right now. So, as someone is still busy speculating, bring it.

For those trying to work out what triggers possession: You almost certainly won't work it out. If some planets align somewhere and you do manage to work it out it doesn't help you because you almost certainly won't know that you've worked it out. The only thing you can hope for is to notice anyone who's posting style changes at some point after a few people have died.
Next. I find it laughable that anyone thinks there is a single player among us good enough to even attempt hunting one kind of scum above another. All we should really concern ourselves with is finding scum (killers and cult both = scum), today especially since none of the truly fucked up roles have even come into action yet.
In conclusion: Stop the Role Distribution discussion. Stop trying to second guess the mods (this is DiBs we're talking about). Start trying to find scum like you would in a normal game. That is, at this juncture, the only thing that will help us.

Grrr....
I had a whole big post typed out with responses to things that had been said in thread while I was gone. It was good, made some intelligent points and I even managed to keep it all polite and non-combative like. Then my fucking computer did a flip out on me and guess what, that post is gone. FUCKING GONE! And you know what? I can't be bothered to quote things again and write the nice replies again and whatever. So you can all play day one however you like, but don't complain when you get to the end of the day and have had a whole one bandwagon of note based on ducks and a noob error and still know nothing about the game mechanics.
I'm out for 15-20 hours. Hopefully I'll have calmed down a bit by then.

Morning people, just caught up.
My thoughts so far - Weird statement by Gamelon, but not something I think is lynchworthy at this point.
Also, what the hell is up with Telas? First he comes on and commands us to stop talking about roles and the possessed. Then in his last post he says not to blame him if we dont know anything about the game mechanics at the end of the day. He got awfully upset about Gam being L-9 with 20? hours still left in the day. Cant say it makes him scum, since getting peoples backs up like that isnt the best way to go unnoticed.

You are correct that my vote wasn't a joke vote. Well spotted. The reason for that vote wasn't BS though, as you seem to think. It wasn't strong, but it was a reason. That said, I didn't take it too seriously until you over reacted to having two votes on you. This post is an overreaction to yet another vote and makes me a little more confident in my vote for you.

So thoughts so far.
Quiet day is quiet.... almost a whole day gone and less than 400 posts.
Telas: its been said already but his whole attitude bugs me and the fact that people seem to just be shrugging and saying he must therefore be innocent rings alarm bells.
Gamelon: People seem to be saying its a noob mistake, people wtf? did we not learn anything from mafia 32? While I will agree its day 1 and he should be allowed a little way, I still feel he should be watched....
Anomandaris: Yeah, he has basically just lorded over us the fact that he has a better avi then us! Annoying yes, if he keeps it up I will happily vote for him.
Tellan: Ah just posting to avoid modkill! 'Hearts not in it' 'dont expect much from me' Thats not fucking playing damn it! Thats just annoying.
right now:
Vote: Tellan
Because fuck it even if Anomandaris is just rping at least he is trying and Telas and Gam may actually be worth having around, whereas Tellan just seems to be apathetic!
P.s. @Gamelon: Playing the noob card is not going to win you any respite

Some out-takes from Serc's posts. If you want to read the whole posts click the little link at the top of the quote.
Other have mentioned this, but it is worth saying again that this is either and very foolish or very scummy attitude.
don't twist my words.
Who wants a lynch at the start of Day One, before the timer has run out? Scum do. I didn't say speed lynch, or don't pressure, did I? I said lynch someone at the end. It will probably only be for reasons such as "lowest poster"; or "scummy behaviour". Have you ever played a game where we actually lynched scum Day One with a plausible case? The case is not going to make a difference because there will be no real evidence to back it up, so don't play that card.
So far as the underlined bit goes: Yes. A number of times, just never on these boards. Mostly due to the whole lets "lynch someone at the end" mentality which is unfortunately prevalent here. Day one can be the most important and informative day of the game if its played by pressuring an many people as possible. Building wagons and seeing who jumps where, who pulls which wagons down and eventually the alignment of whoever does get lynched. If you play it by discussing the game mechanics, role distribution and odds and then lynch someone at the end you start day two with hardly any more information than you had on day one.

Hi lads, sorry about my lack of gaming commitment this week. Just been so busy with work and suffering with my bad back. The post counts must be low for most players - I presume - so feel less guilty. I have read the posts since I was last online and there hasn't been much content that has struck me as anything much.
Not sure my role reveal was a noob mistake or not. Perhaps in 10 games time I will look back at my early games and laugh at my lack of skills. I am still testing the water and have not played a pure version of Mafia yet. The disco game was misleading in that symp activity was not consistent with what was to be expected, as the killers knew their identities. This seems like a purer version of the game other than the cult aspect.
Feel free to lynch me for current reasoning. There is very little else to go off at presence. I only hope that I get the opportunity to possess one of you mofo's.

Also.
When did I ask for respite? I have only made three or four posts so I am sure it will be very difficult for you to mislead people with a clever array of quoting and dissemination of apparent facts. I actually stated that the case for a lynch on me is stronger than any other case. I hate repeating myself as it makes me look like a desperate losers but I only posted a few posts ago and somebody is already making a false allegation against me. Seems a little cheap.
Can somebody explain the train on Anomandaris? I am not clear about the reasoning. We also looking very quiet on the boards and short on time to push for a reaction before night.

Point One: You are taking that out of context, my friend, and that doesn't back up anything. I do believe I was referring to the debate of someone being scummy when there was no evidence suggesting it. I'm all for finding evidence, but not suggesting people are scummy for no reason. Discussing and having a case are two different things.
Point Two: no one has showed up today for prolonged periods of time today, its rare that they do on this board. Case: See Anomandy who hasn't made one appearance today to defend himself, making it very hard to get any evidence for a lynch.
