Was this thread moved? Cause in the DoD folder the only thing that needs to be spoilered is Crippled God stuff right?

Kilava is one of my favorites characters. I eat the pages she is in with gusto. She has done a ton of things since being the last surviving Bonehunter and each can be seen as an event worthy of leading her to ascendancy. From filling the hole in the rent above Morn to withstanding the pull of the Ritual.

Sincerely

Yeah, the thread was moved from the MoI forum or so. An interesting point is the potential that an ordinary painting on a wall would do nothing, but Onrack being a Bonecaster is what made it so special.

I kinda love it when D'rek unleashes her nerd wrath, as I knew she would here. Sorry innocent bystanders, but someone's gotta be the kindling.

Personally I think it had to do with the beliefs of the Imass. If it was forbidden to do what Onrack did because they feared the results, that very belief is what created the spiritual reality. It's not too far from the belief that taking a photograph of someone steals their soul, except in the world of Malazan, beliefs have power.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

This could get cleared up and I just forgot about it...

But I'm re-reading MoI and I'm kind of confused about how Silverfox can be the only flesh & blood bonecaster in thousands of years if Kilava is still around? Do they deal with this & then Silverfox is all "Well uhh well I'm the first NEW flesh and blood bonecaster!" or something?

Just seems like the idea of there being a flesh & blood bonecaster walking the earth again was a major event...but then Kilava pops up with her sexy eyes and I get all confused!

edit: I'm not asking why Kilava isn't leading the T'Lan Imass in the 2nd Ritual...Just wondering why it seems like the simple existance of a flesh and blood bonecaster holds such great import when there always was one- not attatched to a clan anymore, but still...she was alive.

Unless her (apparently debatable) Ascendancy changes things?

"That is for me to decide, for I exist to command them. To command them all. My birth proclaimed the Gathering - a demand that every T'lan Imass on this world has heard. And now, those who are able, are coming. They are coming." PG-128 MoI - Bantam Paperback

I believe her birth is significant because she is the first flesh and blood Bonecaster to be born AFTER the Ritual of Tellann , marking the end of the Diaspora, and the beginning of the Second Gathering. An end to the T'lan Imass, so to speak.
Lives and loves, the gamut of existence was marked by such things. A breaking of paths, the ragged, uneven ever-forward stumble. Blood dried, eventually. Turned to dust. The corpses of kings were laid down and sealed in darkness and set away, to be forgotten. Graves were dug for fallen soldiers, vast pits like mouths in the earth, opened in hunger, and all the bodies were tumbled down, each exhaling a last gasp of lime dust. Survivors grieved, for a time, and looked upon empty rooms and empty beds, the scattering of possessions no-one possessed any longer, and wondered what was to come, what would be written anew on the wiped-clean slate. Wondering, how can I go on?

Ah true true. Nice quote! It seems like a lot of the references towards the f&b bonecaster's importance seem to relate to her just being there..but that makes way more sense put into that perspective, even if it was kinda the logical one i was just being obstinate about anyways hehe.

Silverfox may or may not necessarily know about Kilava.

Also, Kilava's soletaken. They seem to pretty much live until someone kills them.

Being an ascendant doesn't mean one has a place in the pantheon, either.
Laseen did nothing wrong.

I demand Telorast & Curdle plushies.
