I still haven't started the series, but I did decide to get the rest of the series ahead of time. I actually found it trickier to get ahold of Caine Black Knife than Blade of Tyshalle, and even Caine's Law seems to be drifting out of print (it's not even been out for a year!).

I really don't get how Heroes Die is so readily available yet the rest of the series seems to have gone out of print very quickly. Tor's logic seems a bit weird here.

It's Del Rey, actually.

If I recall, Heroes Die was reprinted to promote CBK, which would explain the relative ease of finding it.

Also: for shame.

It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"

Oh, right. That explains it a bit more actually (Del Rey seem much quicker to drop underperforming books, though in that case it's odd they're still publishing Stover's new books).

I think part of his deal for writing Luke Skywalker and the Shadows of Mindor was that DR would publish two more Caine books; that contract was fulfilled with Caine's Law. I don't know if anyone is publishing any new, original-content Stover books at the moment.

The ebook for BoT was made available when HD was reprinted, but the physical book hasn't been reprinted, so yes.

I've seen some insane prices for BoT mmpbs (the only form it was ever pub'd in, iirc).
If you see one at an even marginally reasonable price anywhere, fucking grab it like fucking fuck.

This makes me want to garrot something, just on principle.
Or possibly just vimm a little.

I mean i'm happy for Stover than he can make a living writing SW and video game (God of War) franchise books.... but.... but... fuck.

Nope, I've got it in TPB as well, and so does amph (or whoever else I mailed that copy to.)

I also own the MMPB and TPB of Heroes, and found a HC copy to give to a friend.

But CBK and CL were only ever released in TPB.

I've scanned them all, so you can feast your eyes.

The HD TPB is weird: it's a slightly smaller format, almost book club size; I think the HC was the same. The BoT TPB is awesome, though; it's just a total brick.

(Obviously not to scale):

Yes, SMZ, I am one of those you sent a BoT to. I think there was at least one other on this forum. The cover art really rocks. The Heroes Die version I have is the white one above and it looks really cheesy - despite being a decently accurate depiction of Caine.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

Don't know if this has been mentioned already, but it looks like the Caine books are getting a Kindle release in the UK on 27th May 2013:

Heroes Die

Blade of Tyshalle

Caine Black Knife

Caine's Law

Might be time for me to give them another go :)

I got one from you too. You should receive some sort of provison from Stover considering how hard you've been pimping these books :)

Press release on Orbit's website, including praise from Scott Lynch, John Scalzi, and Felicia Day, of all people.
