I like this guy.
Would you call it a final solution?

I believe calling the finale a Deus Ex Machina is somewhat unfair. There were hints throughout the series that the universe simply could not exist in a balanced state as it was, and Richard's finely crafted persona left only one solution.

Indeed, I suspect it would be somewhat final. The Final Solution. It has a strange ring to it. I'm sure Mister Goodkind would enjoy something like that, a term that simply brims with Justice and Truth.

I cannot. However, having met the man Himself in person on several occasions, and seeing the kindness and understanding he treats his fans with, I believe that he would like such a term. Perhaps it is too much of me to think so.

I remember this one in particular:

Haddonfield, NJ: Second Question - I've noticed similarities between your Sword of Truth series and Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series...(Black Sisterhood vs. Black Ajah; The Order vs. The Seanchan; Richard vs. Rand both discovering their powers, both have Nameless evil Gods...etc.) I've often voiced my suspicion that these two series might be occurring on the same world...how crazy am I?
Terry Goodkind: If you notice a similarity, then you probably aren't old enough to read my books.

Good god. Was that something caught on audio or just a quote taken out of context from a source we can't even trust having met Goodkind?
The douchebaggery in Goodkinds response is of epic proportions.

Quote
Question: Did Richard's talk about creating new magic (inventing spells, and such) in sotf have any philosophic meaning, or was it just some fantasy talk? It seemed important, but I couldn't get any real life meaning out of it.
Answer: Do you think that perhaps using your reasoning mind to come up with something entirely new and valuable to your life might be more important than repeating, through rote that what has come before? Look around you. Everything you have was made possible by the power of a reasoning mind envisioning something new, something original. I use magic as a metaphor; in this case for what wonders are achieved through thought and reason.

I have never discussed anything whatsoever with Terry Goodkind. I suggest that you check the publication dates of his books and mine. Of course, he says he has never read me, or so I’m told, and I would never contradict a statement like that. Just check out the pub dates on his books, and the pub dates on mine, those that contain the similarities you speak of.

That article is so funny. How can he take himself so seriously, especially when the objectivism he so fervently believes in is largely the whitterings of some half mad bint.
