all though he was not seeking vengeance from rake when he crossed swords with him, he did cross swords because of vengeance. remember he is after hood for what hood did to his daughter. and it's kinda funny that he is wielding a sword with a name of vengeance lol

The sword is what you make it.

This isn't really a RCG spoiler, so I'll share. Vengeance/Grief is mentioned in RCG and it's told that the sword has had many names over the years. In Darists hands it was Grief, because that's what broke him. In Dassems hands it is Vengeance because that is what consumes him.

@Hoosier -

Why is Blood-Drinker of course Ruin?
And still, who is the Watcher of E.H. and how does the relationship "Gate + BD converge on the Watcher" play out in your scenario?

Watcher could also be the Errant or Gothos if the character doesn't need to be eleint... which it probably has to be... but you get my drift.

Watcher would be, methinks, the Errant. Never taking action(other than nudging), just watching... Git. :p

Knight = Anomander Rake
- "The Knight strides his own doomed path, soon to cross blades with his own vengeance." - MT (Fancy that!)

I recall Andarist saying to Cutter as well that the sword Grief/Vengeance used to be Rake's sword before he found one more suitable.

So this is pretty much a certainty - he's about to cross blades with his own sword, now called vengeance.

Draconus is an elder god. As such, he doesn't have a 'race' in the sense that, say, Korlat or L'oric do. From wht little we've seen, EGs, or at least some of them, can change their appearance, as Mael does between the MT prologue and his appearance as Bugg.

Ruin "drank more deeply of Tiam" than any other son of M.D.

Menandore and Ruin converge in R.G. in non-dead land to get the Finnest made by Gothos... who could be the Watcher.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Why can't it be the three sisters who converge - Sukul anandu who was asked to leave the city because she attacked humans and drank their blood (blood drinker), Menandore who appears easily in the realm with all the gates and left her son there (Gate of the dragon), and Sheltatha Lore - I don't know how to link her to "Watcher of the Empty Hold". Their meeting ended with betrayal and destruction in RG.

It's possible, I seem to remember at some point during MT Feather Witch performed a reading in which all the positions were plural, or am I wrong?

It has been proven beyond all reasonable doubt that the most powerful force on Wu is a bunch of messed-up Malazans with Moranth munitions.

Correct, at the end of chapter 7, Feather Witch's reading reveals that pretty much all of the positions in the Empty Hold as plural. I'm thinking that this holds true only for this reading (from Seren's interjection). I have yet to come up with an explanation for this part of the reading.

"Feather Witch" said:

‘The Empty Hold has become... very crowded indeed. Ware the brothers! Listen! Blood weaves a web that will trap the entire world! None shall escape, none shall find refuge! The Watchers stand in place as if made of stone! Their faces are masks of horror. The Mistresses dance with thwarted desire. The Wanderers have broken through the ice and cold darkness comes with its deathly embrace. The Walkers cannot halt in the growing torrent that pulls them ever onward. The Saviours—’
‘What is she saying?’ Seren Pedac demanded. ‘She has made them all plural - the players within the Hold of the Empty Throne - this makes no sense—’
‘—face one another, and both are doomed, and in broken reflection so stand the Betrayers, and this is what lies before us, before us all. Contestants to the Empty Throne. Blood and madness…’

Here is Brys' reading before he pokes through the Azath:

Quote

The Empty Hold - you can well see -has become obscured. Every tile. A shadow stands behind the Empty Throne. And look, Saviour and Betrayer, they have coalesced. They are one and the same. How is this possible? Wanderer, Mistress, Watcher and Walker, all hidden, blurred by mysterious motion.

"Ceda Parudu Erridict in The Casting of the Tile" said:

The Betrayer stands in the shadow of the Empty Throne. That is why it is empty.

And in the first reading...

Quote

Then, as the realms took shape, the spiralling light would grow sharper, and the final Hold would be revealed. The Hold that had existed, unseen, at the very beginning. The Empty Hold - heart of Letherii worship - that was at the very centre of the vast spiral of realms. Home to the Throne that knew no King, home to the Wanderer Knight, and to the Mistress who waited still, alone in her bed of dreams. To the Watcher, who witnessed all, and the Walker, who patrolled borders not even he could see. To the Saviour, whose outstretched hand was never grasped. And, finally, to the Betrayer, whose loving embrace destroyed all it touched.
