I did this at another forum and it was a hit. Basically state your nine characters from any fantasy series to construct a fellowship of villains and heros! I will post mine later.

Hmmm...

Uther Doul (Mieville)
Mawkrin-Skel (Ian Banks)
Fiddler
Mr Crane (Neal Asher)
Sky Haussman (Al Reynolds)
Tyrion Lannister
Quick Ben
Agent Cormac (Asher, again)
Pre-Wars of the Rings-Sauron, in order to have a proper villain!

Obviously a number of these are sci-fi characters, but most of them could adapt well to a fantasy world, so that's ok

Muscle - Onos Toolan aka Tool Undead Version (Erikson)
More Muscles - Elric of Melinbone (Michael Morcock, Elric Serie)
Decent All Round - Gerald Tarrant (C,S Friedman, Coldfire Serie)
Magic - Gaius Maxian (Tomas Harland, Oath of the Empire Serie)
Brains & Bard - Kvothe (Rothfuss, Name of the Wind)
Planning Reserch* - Alex Benedict (Jack Mcdevitt, A Talent for War)
Leadership - The Lady (Glen Cook, Black Company Serie)
Thief - Apsalara the Goddess (Erickson)
Traitor** - Kallor (Erickson)
*Probably the guy who find the rest more dangerous people things to do...
**Sadly every fellowship needs one and Kallor is an expert...

One or two too many of ericksons...but Kallor and Tool where a must...now only to imagine what kind of trouble would need such an fellowship...

Hmm...

Mage: Gerald Tarrant (CS Friedmann)
Thief: Jimmy the Hand
Warrior: Logen Ninefingers
Strongman / warrior: Perrin
Courtesan / Beauty: Lanfear the Forsaken
Wise old person: Polgara the Sorceress
Elf: Drizzt Do Urden
Little person: Rob Anybody of the Nac Mac Feegle
Anthropogenic animal: A Valdemaran Companion

Reckon there'd be a few personality clashes in there!
It is perfectly monstrous the way people go about nowadays saying things against one, behind one's back, that are absolutely and entirely true.

I was pondering The Bloody Nine, and Lanfear also... They would be in if it was only fantasy.

Allanon (Brooks); Gandalf; Tyrion Lannister (Martin); Quick Ben; Bremen (Brooks); Thomas Covenant (Donaldson); Kruppe; Voldemort; Icarium.

I think this would work. It would really be a nest of vipers with layers of plans within plans. I'd be entertained by this at least. Icarium the unstoppable and his eight guardians. It's neither an evil or good fellowship but merely one with mirky, and unclear, intentions.

This thread is a bit of an indictment on how poorly female characters are written isn't it.

Macros (fiests midkemia books)
Bloody Nine (abercrombie's the first rule)
Trull Sengar
Tomas (fiests midkemia books)
Jimmy the Hand (fiests midkemia books)
Karsa Orlong

Tasio of the Minwanabi (fiest and wurts empire series)
Morgoth in his power tripping days
Murad (dalf elf, fiests midkemia books)

If we go outside fantasy the list would be sans Karsa Orlong and have Richard Sharpe in his stead, and murad would be swapped out for Obadiah Hakeswill the evil bastard

How about we say that this is only fantasy and we can make another Sci-fi one if you want.

Basically I'm sorry all but my fellowship beats all your sorry asses!!!
First the Trinity of absolute ponage!
1. Anomander Rake (Erikson)
2. Quick Ben (Erikson)
3. Karsa Orlong (Erikson)

4. Gandalf (Tolkien) you need his wisdom on any mission... its priceless
5. Drizzt (Salvatore) his melee skills are incredible and would be an excellent partner for Karsa.
5. Legolas (Tolkien) while Karsa and Drizzt are f****** people up this guy's bow is gold
6. Pwent (Salvatore) because every fellowship needs a dwarf
7. Glorfindel (Tolkien) he killed a balrog for pete sakes
8. Fiddler (Erikson)
9. Hedge (Erikson) because Fiddler and Hedge gotta go together!

My evil fellowship is yet to come!

Ah, so we want one of each? Fantasy only? Hmmmmm.

The good:

The muscle:
Uther Doul (Mieville)
Apsalar

The fuck you up magic:
Pug of Crydee (Feist)
Drusas Achamian (Bakker)

The brains:
John Constantine (Moore)
Havelock Vetinari (Pratchett)
Granny Weatherwax (Pratchett)

Miscellany:
Fiddler - to blow shit up
Comet Jant Shira (Swainston) - because being able to fly should come in handy for a fellowship.

An evil one is more difficult, there's a lot more heroes (or characters on the side of the good, anyway) than bad guys.
I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you.

FANTASY:

Caine (Stover) - Do I need anyone else?
Gruntle (Erikson)
Ganoes Paran (Erikson)
Croaker (Cook) - Glittering Stone era.
Lady (Cook)
Ma'elKoth (Stover)
Jonathan Strange (Clarke)
Shapeshifter (Cook) - As long as Lady can rein him in.
Anomander Rake (Erikson)

SCI-FI:

Hari Michaelson (Stover) - I see what you did there
Lanik Mueller (Card) - Physical regeneration? Check. Time-shifting abilities? Check.
Andrew Wiggin (Card) - For moral guidance.
Angus Thermopyle (Donaldson) - The welded version.
Jacen Solo (Star Wars) - Pre-Caedus.
The Shrike (Simmons) - One of the nice ones.
Giskard (Asimov)
Angel (Card) - The assassin/teacher from "Wyrms".
James T. Kirk (Star Trek)
"Here is light. You will say that it is not a living entity, but you miss the point that it is more, not less. Without occupying space, it fills the universe. It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"

Ahh, I was confused. Mine's a mixed good and evil fellowship. So really there's 4- 2 for fantasy, 2 for scifi.

Fantasy Good.

Druss (Gemmell) as the old grumpy axe wielder.
Trull Sengar for the spear and morally good guy.
Lan Mandragoran (Jordan) as the sword dude with the tragic past.
Apsalar as the knife expert and for lame love stories.
the Bloody-Nine(Abercrombie) as the berserk.
Mat Cauthon (Jordan) as the staff wielder and gambler if needed.
Quick Ben as the Magician and for insane schemes to get then in or out of trouble.
Iskaral Pust as the High priest and comical bad ass side kick.
Susan Rodriguez (Butcher) for sexy mysterious side story.

My team rocks! :p
