I didn't cancel the order. Now while DoD sits unread and unloved in the bookstore, I must wait.

Angryface.

It has been proven beyond all reasonable doubt that the most powerful force on Wu is a bunch of messed-up Malazans with Moranth munitions.

I managed to hurt my right ankle while sleeping. It is now slightly swollen and not fun to walk with. Seriously, during sleep? WTF was I doing?
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

I had a dream (or it could have been a nightmare) where everybody thought I was a cow and entered me into a cow race. My subconscious should be on my side!

And, now I'm on fucking crutches, and a doctors appointment is imminent because my ankle hurts so fucking bad I can't sleep. Plus, because I have no fucking health insurance, this is going to cost out of the fucking wazzoo.

You know they say that dreams can't hurt you? Well fuck that. Evidently they can.

Got up, got dressed, went to work, found out that I do not in fact have a job today, it's for a different day. Drove back home through rush hour traffic. Turned down a different job for today because I thought I was already booked.

Superb. Biggest laugh I've had all day, which isn't saying much since I've not left the library since 9am.

I've read, digested and annoted 2 books since morning using my newly aquired speed reading technique, made the notes and now it feels like my eyes are going to drop out.

I have spent all day on a single piece of work which required me to track down various people all over the country to get answers from them... All of which turned out to be along the lines of "Nah, I don't need that..." I could have not bothered and it would have made no difference...
If an opinion contrary to your own makes you angry, that is a sign that you are subconsciously aware of having no good reason for thinking as you do. If some one maintains that two and two are five, or that Iceland is on the equator, you feel pity rather than anger, unless you know so little of arithmetic or geography that his opinion shakes your own contrary conviction. … So whenever you find yourself getting angry about a difference of opinion, be on your guard; you will probably find, on examination, that your belief is going beyond what the evidence warrants. The glory of the British civil service, hurrah. That last line sounds like a quote from Nietzche.

I went out last night and I am hungover: I woke up in this Japanese family's rec' room and they would just not stop screaming (actually it was at my friends house and she made me a fried egg sandwich and tea).

It's the end of an era. The TMMB has shut down.

As inappropriate and harsh as that place could be, it was bar none the finest collection of incredibly smart, insightful, talented and funny people I've ever come across. Soldiers, engineers, scientists, medical professionals, lawyers, alcoholics, bums, professional strongmen, MMA/BJJ competitors etc. etc. (and attractive women) all made that place astoundingly informative and entertaining.

That board was probably the biggest factor in my transformation from an 18 year old bad person to the 23 year old less-bad person I am now. It forced the rapid improvement of my analytical and writing abilities and dramatically raised my standards for performance. Stupidity was not tolerated there and the community self-enforced in profane and hilarious manner. Morons with entitlement complexes were swiftly ridiculed, banned or prompted to grow beyond who and what they were. It along with the stories that its creator told helped me discover who I was, what I wanted from life and what I was willing to do to achieve those goals. I made true friends there and frequently go on drinking expeditions with one who lives close by me.

To commemorate its passing, I post the link to Hall & Oates' She's Gone. I'll miss ya, TMMB. You weren't real, but the people who frequented it were.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

At least you still have Malazan, right? :p

The CD I ordered ages ago still hasn't come in. The anticipation is killing me.

I'm looking at 8 remaining hours in my workday and 3.5 hours of courses after that before I can finally collapse on my bed. I'm too hungover to force anything into my stomach right now, so either I eat nothing and feel miserable, or eat and throw up. Also, I only got 4 hours sleep. That, however isn't the worst (and the concert was totally worth it).

The worst is that I am getting old. The me during my student years would never had the hangover in the first place.

Welcome to the rest of your life Tapper! Soon you will start thinking "I can't go to that concert because it is a Sunday night and I have to work on Monday". That's when you have a mid-life crisis!

So you aren't planning on living past 58 then, that's a bit grim.

I had a very delicious curry last night which was great, but the combination of lime pickle, butter chicken, garlic naan and Bengal special is fucking with my bowels and making it a bit hard to work very effectively.

Toilet paper in the fridge time I think.

I have an assignment due in 12 hours which, as of yet, I have not started, and have absolutely no motivation to start. Balls.
