I really shouldn't have procrastinated this weekend.

Mid-term first thing tomorrow - spent the day reading Nabokov and being jealous of how good he is.

Well I got hit by this particular scam..I took pictures and a video too, but missed this area..after reading online people take pictures of the undercarriage.. will remember that.

As I was flying out and I dropped off my rental car they said I scratched the rim. I did not and the damage was there before, on the sheet they said the damage I stated was on the other side of the rim... it’s like fingernail sized.. They would not provide any sort of receipt, or documentation, but did let me sign and filled out a explanation and sign that..

So as I’m leaving to fly back to US they state they have to replace the rims do to that, nevertheless the vehicle clearly had dents/damage already..

Anyhow got dinged about $780 for this particular grift. Anyone been hosed on this one ? My god sometimes I hate people jeebus. I already called there corporate office and they are “investigating” and disputed with my CC company. Reading about this online doesn’t give me much hope.

Lesson learned for sure. I mainly posted this up more for y’all ! Take a ton of pictures..guess I got over confident as I have rented a ton of times and never had a issue.

Actually this is my second weird rental experience, the other one was when the previous renter showed up at my hotel demanding his prescription glasses.. that was just awkward as he had my phone number.

I have a list...

1. two kids sick this morning... 1 threw up on the carpet
2. got off to work late due to everything being shitty
3. got stuck in traffic
4. got to train station and some stupid woman was pulling into the parking space that i was pulling into from the wrong direction, so i reversed and hit another car.
5. now so late to work, i know i won't get breakfast
6. while on the train, got an email that the office is filled with smoke from the fires and people are wearing masks so went home
7. realized if message CAME OUT SOONER I wouldn't have hit that fucking car
8. got a call from my builder asking if we'd completed the mortgage forms yet. Told him was about to hit submit and told him i was about to submit the form to approve my fireplace and kitchen island.
9. he tells me, sorry, but it's too late. now you have to deal with a crap house that while you will pay for it, it won't look how you want.
10. hate life.
11. have a splitting headache

Which rental company in the UK was it Nico? The big ones aren't usually so bad. I've had to argue my case once or twice but always got off with things that definitely weren't my fault.

Mr PigDog even got away with putting diesel in a petrol car even though the nozzle didn't fit!!! He had a proper moron moment after a long drive after a long day of work, forced the fuel to dribble in and somehow got off with it because the car key fob had a "diesel" symbol on it!! That was either Europecar or Enterprise. It's good ammo for when he tries to make out I've made a dumb move

Yeah waiting to see I went with Ace, but got a affiliate with greenmotion and after checking Facebook and the web, quite a few terrible review’s...

My sons bus was 30 minutes late. All of the other buses came and picked up other school kids. It was raining and we got to the bus stop 5 minutes early. So that was fucking awesome. I was late for work. 5 more minutes and I would have had to walk back to our house and then drive him to school. So there is that.

Nobody here is on the "why didn't anyone come forward sooner" blame the victims tip, thankfully, but it's still worth reading for being so astute and concise in distilling the power dynamics and how the damage done is more than physical (plus you might know people who suck irl, and need this explained).

Indeed.

Also the people who were like "Brad Pitt should have come forward when Gwyneth told him she was harassed [instead of just threatening Harvey, which is what I hear he did]" or "Seth Macfarlane should have come forward when Julie told him about her experiences [instead of just making a joke at his expense at the Oscars]" ect. all need to go away and learn about how the victim has the right to talk and not talk about their experiences WHEN and IF they want to, and it's not remotely the place of those they might confide those issues/experiences to...nor should it be considered a bad thing to have come forward now as opposed to when it happened. These Hollywood elites hat run the old boys club are going to experience Weinstein's fall as a watershed that HOPEFULLY leads to massive changes in the industry that has hidden abusers too long.

I don't have that much hope, in the near-term at least. If this is the vanguard of the knives come out against predators though I'd be more than thrilled.

Still, we haven't seen much in the way of consequences for even Weinstein yet, aside from getting fired.

Was just screamed at by the girl friend. I am not sure i have ever experienced such hot iron levels of vitriol. And while I prefer it over a cold lingering hate, I am still laid flat by such an onslaught. To be overdramatic, things don't look that rosy at this late (2:30 am) hour.
