Ando: Sorry for you loss. Is this the grandma who was in and out of hospital last year, w/ the operation and such?

Mentalist: Sorry for your data loss.

Gorefest: Sorry for your gain.

What a shitty day. Eddie Murphy's brother Charlie died and David Letterman's mom died. She was so sweet and stereotypical motherly whenever she appeared on Late Night / Late Show with David Letterman.

And oh shit, we forgot to mention Don Rickles last week. Man, I sure hope 2017 isn't going to try and out do 2016.Posted ImagePosted Image

A cop showed up at my sister's friend's house today to ask about her younger brother, a high school senior. She got freaked out, obviously, and after the questioning the cop revealed why he was there. Her brother's name was on a hit list found in investigating another student, who apparently had plans to do some murders.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Omg, Ando, so sorry to hear that. Hang in there.

For the past 2 nights I've had to work at home for a deadline at work, not going to work before 1 AM.

And today I get to work and it turns out all the work I did last night I didn't save. And my deadline is actually today.

Fortunately, I now know what I need to get the task done today, (because I spent 3 hours yesterday studying it), but I'll be doing so from memory without notes.

FML, :(

Got rushed into A&E as well the other day with a terrible pain in my side. Turns out it was a kidney stone. A bloody kidney stone. I feel old now.

I hope passing the stone isn't drawn out agony. Good luck with getting no more too.

Condolences to Andorion.

Thanks everybody.

Its been an insane 24 hours. We are still trying to come to terms with it.

@Worry, yes, the same person.

The strangest part of everything was that she was getting better. The orthopaedic had confirmed that the leg was fully healed, and she was in good condition for someone her age, and her last blood report was normal. The only thing wrong was that over the last three days she had lost her appetite.
Yesterday she had breakfast, and within minutes just collapsed.

It feels so strange talking about this here, but I can't really talk about this with anyone else in my family at the moment. My mother, aunt and grandfather are distraught, and they need all the support.

The Net has made the world much smaller but it would be better if we had teleporters or fast skimmers to be able to go give a quick handshake or bear hug for friends in their time of need. I'd give ya one buddy.

Thanks. That means a lot.

It's great that it came to light *before* something happened but if I was your sister's friend I would be grilling my brother to find out what he has been doing to make someone hate him so much that they'd plan to kill him (assuming it wasn't just a bigot's hit list). 🤔

Nah, no bigot afaik. My sister says her friend's brother kinda sucks, like he's exactly who you'd expect to find on such a list. When asked if he knew who the other kid was, his response (without irony) was "just some nerd". ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'm sorry to hear Ando.

I remember my maternal grandmother also unexpectedly passing away almost 11 years ago.

A couple of surgeries which she pulled through while the doctors said that she would have a slim chance and suddenly passing away a few months later at the nursing home.

We celebrated her 77th birthday in July that year and 13 days later she was gone.

A staff member called my mom during the evening that her mother was not feeling well and she went there with my two aunts. They just arrived in time to see my grandmother sighing out her last breath.

Haha I just got told to slow my role so they could walk alone. Now it's a different tune..."Daddy can we buy some shorts?"

Now, her friend needs a back pack... $$

Now, "oh we need our nails done daddy."

I get the nails. You have to pay for the friend's clothes and backpack?

Bllody May has called an election. Damn that woman has a fine sense of timing - I'd just put vinegar in the kettle to get rid of the limescale. Cue me sat here till now wanting a cup of tea but unable to make one. Is it too British to be considering getting a backup kettle?

Blerg, my daughter has her first official full blown cold, fever and goopy snot included. I mean we made it 8 months before this occurred (which is pretty good; your kid can have up to TEN colds in their first year apparently), but it's still not fun to go through.

The poor little lamb isn't sure what to do with herself, and we are coddling her as best we can to get her through it (amped with an occasionally dose of Children's tylenol to deal with higher/fussier fever segments)...but it's super hard to watch your kid go through something like this and with them having never experienced it before must be beside herself.

Um... So my brother went missing on Saturday night. Sunday during the day the local police state all evidence points to the fact that he jumped off the Humber Bridge and died.

The boy was an idiot and caused no end of problems for my parents, was on who knows what drugs and had who knows what mental health conditions (often refused to believe anything Doctors told him and walked away from help when it was offered) but dang. It hurts still.

The worst part is the police have no idea when they might find a body so we're all suck in a horrible limbo state, can't organise a funeral or anything like that...

Can I ask that no one post anything publicly if you know me on Facebook. We're telling people but not making any public posts. We're at my parents now and supporting them, especially my mum.

Thanks for letting me ramble sometimes I find writing stuff helps me clear my head...

That's awful, Sim. Frustration is already such a big byproduct of grief, but when it's there from before, as a basic ingredient, it can make things feel out of whack even more. Just remember all your emotional responses, across the map, are valid...and just keep being there for your folks, as much as you can.
