Or they just got one slightly off or borderline reading and it will be normal when they repeat it. I can give more examples of people I know getting called back for repeat blood tests and being told they are fine than otherwise. Knowledge of healthcare can be a bit of a curse when you think there is something wrong with you - the number of times I've diagnosed myself with cancer and not told anybody is rather embarrassing!

This is the problem exactly - I work somewhere that means that every week I'm seeing people undergoing surgery for cancer - and all too frequently the patients are asymptomatic, and in their 40s. I had a lingering cough about a year ago and had totally convinced myself that it was something sinister by the time it went away!

This time I thought I'd wait and see. Then I finally went. But instead of being told to go away and stop worrying, I've been referred. I know the blood tests often are a bit out, but it's just another thing for my overactive sense of paranoia to beat me with.

I never used to be like this! I'm not sure if it's the job or having kids that has changed.

I've had skin cancer, stomach cancer, bowel cancer, ovarian cancer, ectopic pregnancy and a brain tumour. Some at the same time and all diagnosed without even resorting to Google. They either all cleared up on their own or I may have misdiagnosed.... I've sat in a lot of seminars about weird conditions and always find myself thinking "I think I've got that". Yet I also have a severe aversion to going to the doctor. Before being pregnant I hadn't seen a doctor in years.

My sisters boyfriend left a weird rash on his back for ages and then recently finally went to the doctor expecting to be given steroid cream. He was sent for all sorts of blood tests, scans and ultrasounds. They gave him some cream in the end

Six weeks still seems like an age considering I only got the letter for an appointment about 6 hours ago.

And I had to go to a funeral last week. I spent the whole time wondering what I'd I'd put into a video message for my kids! I think I have a problem.

To harken back to what I posted a couple of days ago - thanks to everyone who chimed in with their opinion! I was out with anti-allergy meds for a couple of days (relly, it was 'get home -> fall into some kind of pseudo-coma until it's time to go to work again'). The issue stressed me out so much I actually talked it over with my psychotherapist. So now I'm going to that damned party. Let's see what will come of it. Un the up side, it's good excuse to buy my friend a present off a print-on-demand shop I plan to start selling stuff on myself at some point soon - gotta check the printing quality first.

Messing with my groove today: died my hair with a different dye than usual and I can't get the pesky smell out no matter how much I wash my hair. This is gonna be fun tonight.

After a long and drawn out process of me trying to identify local companies that could potentially employ me to do video work on a full time basis, I finally managed to get one crowd to bite the bullet and basically hire me.

But due to the quirks of how they get their funding etc, they are legally obliged to to advertise any positions that they hope to fill.

So while I am 99% likely to get the job (since I convinced them to do it now, and I have both the video skills and a masters degree in the area they work in, so am really an ideal candidate), I still have to wait for it to be advertised, and then go through the process.

And then I found out that the guy who would be doing the hiring is leaving his job, like next week, and still no sign of the advert.

I hate being stuck in this kind of limbo. I should be all kinds of excited, and yet the last few weeks have been really frustrating, and frankly I can feel all the worries and anxieties of my depression returning as a result. I hate the not knowing, and there's nothing I can do, as I have no leverage.
