I loved die casting. I worked at the point source for all Makita aluminum castings for their circular, miter, and jig saws, among many other things, including all the seats in the Carolina Panthers stadium. Unbearably hot in the summer, cold as shit in the winter, always filthy greasy, the occasional boom from a melt furnace, aluminum spitting past a worn head on a shot arm. I have no idea how far the computer controls have come in the last 15 years, but I suspect that there's still an art to making a die run at optimal output.
My peripheral neuropathy / foot drop means I can never safely set foot in a factory again.
