Daughter has Hand, Foot, Mouth...gotten from Daycare (Read: petrie dish of illnesses) because some parent decided to send their ill child to daycare and infect others...so she's at home with my wife who is two weeks shy of her due date for baby #2.

Fucking hell, what perfectly shitty timing.

The good news is that (according to the doctor; who we saw last night) there is very minimal threat to the baby if my wife gets it now before he's born...but the trade off is that it's much more dangerous to him once he's born if my daughter still has it because of his ill-prepared immune system.

If that happens, ideally we'd want her and baby to go to her parents place to stay till daughter is better...but her mother is terminally ill and has a severely compromised immune system...so we can't do that. Hopefully my sister would take them in.

Nightmare.

My son got over it within a couple of days. In the same period I was wondering why my fingers and toes felt like I had nettle stings, why my throat had razor wire inside and why I had coldsores when I don't get coldsores. Took a few days for the penny to drop that I had it too. Advice from the hand foot and mouth trenches when I had it I realised why my son wouldn't touch anything except cold milk, anything warmer absolutely kills your mouth and throat. Let your kid live on cold milk and ice cream until she seems better!

Messing with my groove is back to work after 2 weeks off. I'm so tired I need a holiday to get over my holiday.

Solid. Thanks for the commiseration and advice! We gave her vanilla ice cream and milk last night and it's all she would tolerate, so spot on there. Hopefully we avoid it, and she gets over it in a few days and the baby has not come yet.

Had a phone interview for insurance purposes.

Had a rather difficult time quantifying my alcohol consumption.

I averaged it out to 10 beer per month, 2-3 glasses of wine per week, and 20 liquor drinks per month (some months I hardly drink at all. Others (in the summer especially) I can drink multiple bottles in a single weekend).

The interviewer was taken aback by that last number. Not sure if I over-estimated or not.

This bloody project must be cursed.

After endless delays and fuck abiuts we finally got some definite instructions and drawings about 2/3 weeks ago, and I've finally been able to mark out install routes and get work moving.

This week the client and main contractor have blown a gasket with our German architects and kicked them from the project, which has put all the other trades into limbo, and until walls start going up our containment can't be finished and so I can't start ordering cable or anything.
We're potentially looking at another stand down, 2/3 weeks this time. I'm not shipping across city to the other project going because a) - it's an hour of rush tube to get there and b ) it's a fucking shambles and the man in charge of it has made such a fuck of it he should be shot.

I think it's just overwork and having a kid but I asked Mr PigDog if I might be getting Alzheimer's last night and that was before I knew about this cock up. I forget basic words a lot and can't remember meetings and discussion I've had. I used to forget details but never literally being in a room with someone a couple of weeks back.

Anyhoo, this error I have made isn't even really an error. I just flat out forgot to do something really important. So now I look like a dick to all the people I manage who I would haul over the coals if they made the same error. They're fixing it for me.

Oh well! I keep telling everyone I'm overworked, they might believe me now.
