easyJet cancelled my flight today. Just for the craic of it. There are no flights out of London.

Compounding my misery is, as per usual, work.

We were supposed to be starting a new job in Kings cross this week, BAM (main contractor) kept putting off handing the site over, so we are still not on site and won't be getting on until Monday (useless fucks).
So, as I was in London anyway I went over to one of our other jobs (at the Emirates) to help them along as it hands over this weekend.

My god but the guy looking after it is just plain fucking stupid. Like how he manages to survive fucking stupid.

If I hadn't been here this week this place simply wouldn't have crossed the line, he's made so many fuck ups it's phenomenal.
I don't think he will be running a job for us again. But basically the boss has realised how much of a fuck up he is I need to stay tonight now anyway to sort out the BMS control side of things because they don't trust him not to fuck it up further.

No, it isn't just you at all! Sounds highly irritating and I hope it stops.

But I also second the headphones and clear distraction (in my case it's always a book). Doesn't always work but I would suggest it has a higher chance of success than not.

Add a book to this, and this is how I live EVERY DAY. The transit is FILLED with people looking to chat, or bother others, or whatever...and I will stare straight ahead and act like they do not remotely exist.

If you KEEP talking to me and I have to pull my headphones out, or stop my music/podcast to listen to your inanities...I'll be even more brusque than one can imagine.

The only social interaction I'm fine with is asking me for directions, if someone is clearly looking for directions, I'm here to help. Otherwise, leave me the eff alone.

That is actually my default mode, including today. Dude tried to strike up a conversation, I did the evasive dance and jumped on the bus. He was still at the cafe when I returned about an hour later and tried again, and since he was - unknowingly to him - standing in the doorway of the building I live in, I kind of had little choice unless I wanted to give away where I live. I wouldn't have minded so much, he does seem nice, but also kind of sleazy, in that typical turkish men way of sleazy which may mean nothing and everything (we've got a lot of those where I live and there's a turkish cafe in my house). I don't mind talking to people per se (I talk to people on the bus if they feel like striking up a conversation), but the 'you're beautiful and I'm in love'-shtick is something I cannot stand, especially since I'm 1. not flattered at all, and 2. not interested in that way, at all, no matter who it is.

I have to admit, I have trouble dealing with there situations, unlike pretty much all other types of situations.
