This week - those changes may not actually happen because someone higher up the food chain nixed it.

And they wonder why people become apathetic and indifferent.

Just really good at pretending that it's all some mystery and it couldn't possibly have anything to do with bureaucratic bullshit or corporate douchebaggery that regularly screws over the bulk of the workforce (often in the name of MOAR PROFITS) or anything, right?

Thankfully these few days back after vacation haven't been too bad, other than this morning - one of my applications won't open at all. Of course, it's the primary application that I need to do my work, and it's still a bit too early for our IT department to be there, so I am already slightly annoyed. Great way to start the day!

The most irritating thing is that we had to attend this daylong leadership seminar on a Saturday about dedication and communication and teamwork. And then shit like this happens. I know the higher ups don't really care but I feel like they live in a bubble if they expect us to care after this kind of stuff just goes on and on.

My job is wonderful and it was initially on a three month contract that is up 31 August. The purpose for which I was hired is a federal govt audit, which is happening now.

I am going to be in a state of uncertainty for a while. Will they pick me up permanently? Or not? When do I bring this up to? To whom?

(My boss didn't hire me, her boss's boss hired me, so that's the wrinkle)

At least I have an interview for another job on 1 August. That's not as fun as this one, but it's a guaranteed job, which is a good thing.

I would bring up to your boss that you would like to convert to an employee. They can explore that possibility.

Ugh, yeah, that sucks too. Though I did have one time when our (completely hands-off, no practical knowledge whatsoever) manager sent out an email one night informing us of a change to be made. I immediately checked it out because it was impractical as hell, but it actually turned out to be physically impossible on our system. Promptly went and mentioned this to our team leader who had a priceless look on her face at the news.
We had to "do our best" under that new procedure for a week before the rule got rescinded. Thus started one of my favourite parts of that job - balancing staying in the manager's good books without getting too far up her favourites list in order to avoid spending time with her. XD (It was a careful balancing act that required me to occasionally say something to annoy her and drop my standing down a few pegs. Man, those were the days. /sarcasm)

I have a patch of white hair that I only discovered when getting my hair done for Shiara and Lucy's wedding.

I didn't realise grey hair was a thing to care about except in regards to how hot it makes guys look. Matador has grey coming through around his ears. It's seriously awesome.

I'm pretty sure I have grey hairs but I can't remember at the moment. I'd look in a mirror but my hair is currently dyed dark green.

Yeah, I don't have the George Clooney style dignified grey at the temples. I wouldn't mind so much except people will not stop commenting about it. It makes me feel old.

27 (28 later this year) and I've also got grey coming through at the the front on one side. Hoping for one sort of epic white streak a la Rogue from X Men, but I doubt the universe is going to be that kind!

The vacation to france was great, but the post vacation fight with my girlfriend was not. It ended with me pulling the plug on the whole thing and I am now single once more. I guess I already knew it would go this way, but it still makes me very sad. I wanted the relationship to work, but it didn't.

She's insecure and anxious about social situations which made her feel bad and upset which again led to her taking it out on me in ways. It was manageable i thought, there's a lot of stuff about her and our relationship that was great enough I could look past it. But on this vacation, especially the time we spent with my family, it became too much. I don't mind supporting her when she feels upset, but I can't spend every moment worrying about her and whether I'll do something that'll make her angry. Or jealous. She got jealous about the weirdest stuff and I just couldn't deal with it anymore, especially since I'm not the jealous type.

I had hoped she'd feel less insecure the longer we were together, and the more time we spent with my family (we've gone on cabin trips, birthdays and such in the past) but it never seemed to get better.
