Isn't it a toddler per week on average shoots someone? Something extremely ridiculous like that anyway.

You know. Under normal circumstances, it would be terrible to take potshots at this event. I mean, a child just got shot!
But, frankly, this isn't normal circumstances. This is probably only the hundredth time this has happened this year. It's not like the country hasn't had enough exposure to genuinely distressing events to make some sort of change to reduce the chances of it happening. By now it surely must be frequent enough and unaddressed enough that we can have a go at America whenever it happens, right?

I have a friend who says this of America, Guns and their dangers.
"If Sandy Hook didn't change anyone's mind, nothing is going to."
I have a tad more optimism than he does about it...but not by much. The Status Quo in the States is "Guns".
Until some Republicans with clout go AGAINST their constituents (and refuse massive NRA contributions) to change things...like that Conservative guy did in Australia back in the 90's...it's not going to change.
Guns really DO have more rights than humans in the US sadly.
I'm not sure why Gun Control is such a bad phrase there...we have it here, and it works well. The difference in shootings in Canada VS the States is huge as a result. And no one feels their "rights" have been trampled upon.

Last week, my Nexus 6p entered an infinite boot loop right after getting a software update. My warranty ran out April 15th.
I had one of the busiest weeks I've ever had in which I needed to talk to multiple people regarding trips, buying a new car to replace my quickly dying 2002 Cammy with 215k miles on it, and some family stuff. That week was way harder than it needed to be because my phone happened to go down just then.
From what I gather, Google jettisoned Huawei rather fast in order to go after the Pixel and whatever it's successors are. Huawei is mad and won't support repairs and neither will Google because it is not their phone. Urrrgggh.
So I have a $450 brick right now and shelled out $279 for a quick replacement unlocked phone.
The new car is glorious though. More than any feature it has, the relief of knowing that something new and expensive won't go wrong in the immediate future is enormous.

As someone who uses a Nexus 6p currently, this issue intrigues and concerns me. :S

Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

Balls, 4 hours into my day off and school has called as my boy has a fever. Sigh.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Tell them to hose him down with CO2 based fire-extinguisher. That should give you a few more hours. I've seen 'em do it on TV once.
Just make sure you don't accidentally hit him with a wrench or anything, since he could shatter.

All sudden and unexpected deaths in the community have to be investigated. As with all such investigations, suicide is always a consideration but so are all other possibilities ie coronary failure, adverse side-effect, freak accident, poisoning etc.
There's nothing in that article to suggest suicide is more likely than any other possible cause of death. They didn't mention signs of self-inflicted harm, a suicide note, etc.

Such a shock. Chris Cornell was a big music hero to me growing up in the grunge era. Really sad as well if it is indeed suicide. As far as I knew he had been back on the straight and narrow for quite a while after years of rehab, so I find it hard to believe that it would be something like an accidental overdose or somesuch. Gutting. Fell on black days

Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.

I was a big fan of Soundgarden back in the day. Saw them at Festival (Festy) Hall in Brisbane in the late 90s just before they broke up. What a voice, and an amazing lyricist.
Damn.

Damn, that news hit me hard. I'm a pretty big fan of Soundgarden. I wonder if it's the "celebrity plague" that's taken so many recently - addiction to prescription opioids.
