England. Wolverhampton.

Just heard that the surgery went fine. However, the appendix was already perforated, so she has to stay in hospital a while longer.

She's going to stay with a relative who lives on the other side of England after her discharge and my parents were planning to go to England in a couple of days anyway to visit that relative (she's 8 months pregnant), so everything is going to work out fine.

One of her friends on campus brought her a charger, so we can also communicate again.

'The question is,' said Humpty Dumpty, 'which is to be master — that's all.'

Puke. Puke. Puke. Puke. Puke. [insert all of the swear words I know here].

I bit the bullet and FB culled my dads sister yesterday. I was visiting my mum for New Year and she absolutely loathes my aunt so told me to just do it and lie about it. Fine parenting advice! Should be in the happy thread but it fits here. Thanks for the advice all.

Those are some pretty solid baby name ideas.

So far seems to be ok. That was around 4.45 AM or so. Judging by Twitter, lots of people got woken up. Indo-Myanmar border is quite far from here. According to local news epicentre is near Imphal . If it is on the border, the area won't be too heavily populated.

Edit: I didn't realise it was an earthquake. Woke up to the bed shaking. Then all the crows and birds started screaming. That was the big hint.

I live on solid fault free ground so never have to worry about that. Sure wouldn't enjoy that shit.

My city isn't on a fault either, but the entire Himalayan mountain chain is an earthquake zone. Essentially the Indian plate is pushing into the Eurasian plate and this is what causes the earthquakes. 90% of earthquakes you hear about from South Asia will have a Himalayan connection.

Oh my! OH MY!!!!!!

Y'all will find this amusing im sure but ATM I'm in agony! I put some prescription strength pain cream(think Ben Gay but 100% stronger than even the Maximum relief tube) along the side of my left leg. Well thanks to boxers I didn't realize till a few minutes later that I put it in range of my left sack and shaft... This is even worse then the time I accidentally picked up the tube of ICY HOT instead of KY... Me and the ex wife were both groaning in pain that night.

If you want to FEEL PAIN then my recommendation is make any sort of food that requires chili extract, get some on your fingers and then scratch your nads. If you feel REALLY masochistic you could just use a pipette dropper to pop some down the barrel of your Ion Cannon Frigate.

I am disappointed no gargantuan wildlife, particularly of the bug variety, were involved. But my sympathies as well.

Started the New Year (literally) with a tooth pain issue. We were at the Dental Emergency clinic (open on Holidays) at 8 AM New Years morning. It was either a re-infection of a root canal from a year or two ago (possible when all isn't gotten in the initial root canal) which caused it, or the wisdom tooth right next to it. The emerg dentist could not really tell which of the teeth it was causing the pain (in the end he leaned towards the root canal having failed, while I felt pain in the gums near the wisdom tooth which is what I thought it might be and he said could not be ruled out either since the pain of this sort can radiate). So I ended up with antibiotics to deal with the infection, strong ibuprofen to deal with the pain and a voicemail to my actual dentist to visit and find out which of these things is causing the issue. So I spent all of Friday and part of Saturday in horrible pain, until the drugs began to work and I felt much better. An inauspicious way to begin the new year to be honest, but either way it looks like I'll be having a tooth pulled soon. Made me feel like warmed over crap for the long holiday weekend...so...fuck.

Still coming out of the holiday stupor.

Didn't sleep well, cuz my ankle got partially crushed yesterday. A guy about a foot taller than me (my height: 185 cm), and 1.5-2 times my size (i'm about 83 kilos) and me went to kick off same ball from opposite sides, full force, full swing. Lots of physics happened (the ball remained stationary), and both of us ended up limping off to be substituted. We got back on round the same time for the next shift- I played to the end, he took a few steps and subbed off again. But once I got home and the adrenaline wore off, I felt the tenderness, and it's partially swollen.

But I have a playoff game for my other team tonight. Which is already gonna be a close game, I can't miss it. Fuck.

Can a root canal fail?
Also in my experience, ibuprofen is nowhere near good enough for a bad toothache.
Getting a tooth pulled .. ouch.. hope it doesn't grate in your skull. Mine did.

Yeah. No. I tried, I really did. But mirth is beating compassion by a mile on this one.
Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.

Yes, a root canal can fail...if the root is too curved and the endodontist doesn't get all the pulp out, or sometimes people have extra roots that the endo/dentists don't know about...stuff like that. It just reinfects and they either try again, surgically go into the top and saw off some root and clean it up, or last resort is extraction. I'm happy to do the retry if they think it will work...I'm not down with doing surgically (they slice the gum up and stuff) so if it comes to that I might choose to have it pulled. Not only all that, it can fail months or YEARS later apparently.

I thought the same about the "strong" ibuprofen when the dentist mentioned it (I'd been taking extra strength Advil before visiting the Emerg dental clinic and it did nada), but it's prescribed, not over-the-counter, and is 200mg's more per pill than and extra strength...and aside from two instances when I had to shore the dose up with a reg strength Tylenol (I was advised to do this by the dentist if needed) it's worked VERY well...and much better than I'd thought it would initially.

Damn you still have your wisdom teeth? I had mine out at 21.

I have 3 of them, one was so wonky grown in that it eventually broke and had to be removed.

But yeah, I was meant to have them out in my 20's, but they weren't causing me issues at the time so my then-dentist said I didn't have to have them out if I didn't want to. I think if this one causing me problems IS my wisdom tooth, I'll just go in and have the lot out. Which I hear is not as easy or fun at a later age...so yay? Ugh. I'd love to time travel back to my younger self and slap him for not having them out.
