EDIT: Nooooooo! Aircon repairman came and has now left and the aircon STILL DOESN'T WORK! Apparently I guessed right and the electronics board has died and the replacement part is extremely expensive so the repairman has to confirm that the owner is willing to replace it. Which means the repairman has to contact the realtor who has to contact the owner and then the realtor has to let the repairman know he can go ahead and replace it.
It's unlikely to be fixed this week

And the next day is the day that Loki set up shop at the community pool with all her fifty gazbillion animals and Mass Effect posters. Or maybe rented a motel room for a while and charged it to the landlord.

I used a hair dryer to thaw the icing on a window so I could look outside for a few minutes. Didn't see any polar bear cavalry yet, but it's only a matter of time.

I'm sixish hours east of you in the Albany, NY region. So... it can be this cold, but it hasn't been regularly so for a while. Last winter, I didn't get to use my sweet winter boots which I'd bought to replace the decade plus old ones. This winter, I got to stomp around last week. We'll see if it happens again.
