When we we're in Dragnipur and WJ is lining up Hood's army; Bridgeburners, Dujek, Bult, the Grey Swords etc. etc. he mentions that Skamar Ara and his Jacuruku Legions place themselves left of Dujek.
Who are these guys? Someone that'll be a protagionist in upcoming books?
I mean, we know the others and why they are considered the best of the best in soldiering, why they are the elite of Hood's army against Chaos. Then a random(?) Jacurukuan is mentioned in the same sentance as the Bridgeburners and Dujek.

I would've thought he might be a general from Kallor's time.
Or something from RotCG.

Other than that, I don't know.

He could just be a dead general from Jacuruku that SE has thrown in so it doesn't look like the only forces worth their salt in the world were Malaz, Segulah, or Grey Swords lol

I really have no idea who they are, Ill have to take a look at it. However it was said that the only legions that were really worth their salt (like Lisheo put it) were recently deceased people, since the others have been dead for a long time and got lazy/arms rotted off or something along those lines. Does this count for all the armies? Is this a useful contribution? I dunno, maybe someone smarter than me can tell us.

Have some something tuggning my mind, when toc the younger was following Adjunkt Lorn in GoTM didnt he come across some dead barghast and malazan solders.
Think he called the dead Malazanas jacurukan, elite soldiers, dont have GoTM here so cant confirm it.

Alright, I've looked around and here's what I found about Jacuruku:

The major landmasses are considered to be Seven Cities, Quon Tali, Genabackis, Jacuruku, Korelri, Assail and the Letherii continent

The High King Kallor forged an empire, encompassing the continents of Jacuruku and Korelri. His High mages rebelled and summoned down the Crippled God, which was shackled during the summoning. Fearing that the Elder Gods would punish him, Kallor destroyed his own empire.

As for Jacuruku, that (along with Korelri) was messed up by the Fall, and then later burned to a crisp by Kallor...

random site said:

some fans disputed whether Jacuruku still existed or whether the entire continent had been removed from the world during events in the prologue to Memories of Ice. However, The Bonehunters confirms that Jacuruku still exists when a character reminisces about meeting people from Jacuruku.

as for Skamar Ara, I think some details are told about him in rotgc, which i havent read so I cant say anything about it.

Anyway this doesnt answer your question obviously and everybody already probably knew al this so I'm probably ranting to myself but I was interrested anyway so I figured I'd post what I found.

Nope, no Skamar Ara mentions in ROTCG, I checked right after I posted and I could not find anything in ROTCG.
Should this be blacked out and labled spoilers by the way?

Can't say I exptected some clear cut answer... I just posted some question that popped up in my head after leafing through the good parts of TTH

"Fearing that the Elder Gods would punish him, Kallor destroyed his own empire. "

He destroyed his empire to prevent the Elder Gods from taking anything from him. So I don't think fear is the right term

Also, the only thing we know about Jacuruku is that once Kallor burned the entire continent down, Krul took it all in and created what was later know as the imperial warren.

Yeah it IS the imperial warren now isn't it. So why do people from the bone hunters know people from there? or why have they met people from there or whatever? verrrrry interesting *strokes chin.* Something fishy going on in these parts I should say.

i think your misunderestimating jude. k'rul only took the burned to ash part of jacuruku and put it in a warren. the bedrock of the continent remained and was repopulated i'd guess.

verrrry interesting. hahah. yeah that makes alot more sense. Krul just cleaned up the mess (scraped the burnt top off) but the landmass still remained to start over, yeah?

What Toste said. Jacuruku still exists, and has been re-populated. We know that Iron Bars was dropped off there by Elalle following MT.
Also, it is seen in RotCG.

As an aside, the ash was possibly deposited in what was once the K'Chain Che'Malle warren....very interesting.

Another point is that all those mentioned previously by WJ (Dujek, Brukhalian, Bult Etc) are RELATIVELY speaking recently deceased.
As WJ says the others 'are as Dross' "paraphrase". So using that logic this Skamar Ara has only just kicked the bucket on Jacuruku..........Thoughts

If Hood had one eye on building an army I don't think it's a stretch to imagine he'd have a motive for wanting WJ.

Do you mean that WJ was Mason of Death for a while, i don't know if this means Hood turned his back on WJ when he ceased to fullfill this role in the house, are there any instances where Hood won't let someone in anyway? I can't think of one. There are instances where people Hood dislikes are reserved a particularly unpleasant fate (see hoods comments about advocates)
