Hey guys - I'm asking for a quick briefing on a couple of things as I'm trying to get through Toll the Hounds. I got it during the summer but had been too busy to read it til now.

I'm really confused by both of the sections involving Andii characters. Firstly, I can't really remember what's going on with this Nimander character. I don't remember who he is, or how he hooked up with Clip.

I am really, really confused about the Anomander Rake sections. Who is Endest Silann? Who is Seerdomin?

I love SE, but I am just having a lot of trouble getting my teeth into this one. The pov is jumping so fast I've just remembered who characters are before it switches back, and I'm having trouble following the story.

Hopefully I can invest some serious time in it after this weekend.

Nimander Golit is the leader of the surviving Tiste Andi defenders of Drift Avali, son of Anomander Rake, he escaped the destruction of drift avali on the Silanda I think. He is having a crisis of confidence partly due to the rejection of his father , the horror of everyone getting killed by the Edur on Drift and the fact that he tried to kill his sister Phaed at the end of the Bonehunters (he failed but she died anyway) and now he is being taunted by her ghost. He met Clip in the Bonehunters I think, but I can't quite remember where, Clip took over the group of Andii after a fashion cos of his cockyness and cos he was going to find anomander rake. Clip recognised that Nimander was not able to offer leadership because he was being a total Emo wuss.

Endest Silan is one of the Tiste Andii who lives in Black Coral, Anomander Rake asked him to use his powers to keep Moons Spawn hiden under the water during the end of MoI, this has evidently had a seriously adverse effect on him and he seems broken either mentally or actually lacking his previous powers.

Seerdomin is a soldier who used to fight for the Panion Seer, the Seerdomin was the name of the elite formation of the Seers troops.

I've tried not to say to much since you don't make it clear where you are up to.

Yeah, I could have my wires crossed there, they definitely saw or went on the Silanda at some stage cos it was the thought of their parents heads under the tapaulin that drove Phaed mad I think

Edit: Fucking edits; Drift Avali wasn't destroyed I meant over run by the Edur, the destruction on drift avali would have sounded better

Yes that was at the end of BH when they were on that prison Island and met up the Malazan People, the 14th

Just to add to that what said by cougar.

Seerdomin was the one who took care of toc the Younger while he was being tortured by the matron in MoI.

Endest Silann is a long time friend and high mage of Anomander Rakes Andii, Im not sure how much to tell u but without ruining anthing, his POVs and stories add alot of insight into the history of Rake, Mama D and the Andii, so pay attention =)

Incorrect. Clip and Nimander hooked up on Shake Island at the end of Reaper's Gale.

Nimander and co. met up with the 14th in Malaz City, and it was during the trip to Letheri the Andi were on the SIlanda

Thanks a lot everybody - I had just kind of figured out who Nimander was. I had convinced myself he was one of the demon children that were defending the throne, and that didn't make any sense to me, so thanks for clearing that up! I hadn't been enjoying that POV at first, but now it's one of my favorites.

I'm finally done getting ready for the LSAT test, so now I can try and finish this book in a few weeks and stop carrying it around in my backpack all the time. Ugh, the cover is getting ruined. Which is a shame, since I brought back the UK cover over the ocean because it was so much better than the American ones.

It seems like the narrative has settled down a little bit - I was getting thrown off by all the rapid shifts, but I'm about 200 pages in and it is starting to feel more like a SE book.

Nimander and co got off Avalii with the surviving Malazan marines in one of the Edur ships Cotillion depopulated in HoC.

They hooked up with Sandalath and Withal in Malaz City and then leave on the Silanda with the 14th at the end of TB.

Nimander spends most of RG agonizing over the likelihood of Phaed trying to kill Sandy, until she does try, leading to Withal pitching her out a window.

At the end of RG Clip recruits Nimander and the rest from the Shake island.
