Where is that information? At the time Jordan died it was reported that the series would be finished by Piers Anthony, who claimed that Jordan had been preparing him for two years through daily discussions. Did Harriet (Mrs Jordan) make a switch or what?

It's on Sanderson's webpage, as well the Dragonmount website, here: http://www.dragonmount.com/

Where did you hear that? There were a lot of rumors floating around after RJ died, but nothing official was announced until it was announced Sanderson would be doing it. So no switching.

Don't know if they're bad per se but 2 books I couldn't finish were Wizards First Rule by Goodkind and Perdido St Station By Meilville (apologies to him if I have misspelled his name).
I really hate putting a book down half way, but hey, life's too short.
With Perdido St I enjoyed the descriptive writting but got fed up waiting for something engaging to happen.
As for the Goodkind one, and this may sound a little weird, I felt there was something un-wholesome about some of the violence described. I've no objection to graphic violence. Erikson, Gemmell and Martin all vividly describe the horror of war or single combat and I love their book's.
Ever see the magazine "Bizarre"? I'm never sure whether it's readers are getting off on the topless "babes" or the photo's of mutilations etc.. That's the same sort of feeling I got with WFR

Goodkind: All his books are like that. There are loads of rape scenes in em and you can't help but think "Somthing is really messed up here..."

I'm going to have another go at explaining what I thought about RJ and WoT. I don't think he stopped caring about the fans, I mean he could be bothered writing the blog on Dragonmount right up to his death. The thinkg that I felt was that by the time he got to tPoD he didn't have to compromise on anything to sell the books so he allowed himself to really indulge his desire to write epic fiction which dragged his later books into a kind of stagnant, turgid pace where everything was over explained and the relative limitations of his ability as a writer were rather expposed. This doesn't mean he's a bad writer , I'd still rate WoT as some of my favorite fantasy.

However, the Crossroads of Twilgiht and the Knife of Crushing Disappointment were just plain dull.

I'm sure there is a thread around here where we discussed Brandon writing the WoT conclusion, in fact if memory serves he posted a couple of responses in it, I don't know if he has had time to hang around the site though for a while.

He said he was going to be lurking, but not posting. Understandable, considering his new-found fame. :pizza:

To clarify I did only read the first book so I wasn't commenting on the series, just the first installment.
I have returned anew, wistfully my course holds true.
