The Deal With Rep
#1

I know a lot of you are looking for your rep - I know most people want rep. Here's the deal. There is no in-built rep system on IPB. There are, instead, plug-ins which add rep. Most of these cost a bit (as in, are relatively cheap) of money.
Hetan is looking into plug-ins at the moment. Hopefully, we will have reputation on our board very soon. Hopefully that clears a few things up.

Reputation isn't important, it creates unnecessary fuss in my opinion. I'd probably prefer if it wasn't on here but it's not my decision

IMHO, it's a waste of time/space/resources.
But then, if people like it....
But then, if people like it....
And one by one the gardens died

Well, you don't have to use it.
The Inn and Mafia people love it, and it's nice to get a bit of an acknowledgment if you make a good post in the book forums, right? Sure, it's all internet stuff and meaningless, but some people like to feel loved!

I really miss it.

Does it really matter?
Just add it to whining for it and those that cont want it can ignore it, if you really didn't care why make such a big deal about it, ignore it like a bad dog; eventually it'll learn
I think it'd be another small thing for that little bit to make you feel wanted

I was only around for a brief time during purgatory, so I wasnt ever involved with all the rep-whoring and wasnt aware it caused troubles and irritations. That said, it's a cool feature. It was nice to rep someone for saying something interesting or funny, and it adds a bit of a personal touch to your compliment.
Maybe just cap it at a certain level to stop people from abusing it. At worst there'll be a brief period of rep-whoring and someone will actually win 'I win'. And if in a couple of months the majority of the people on the thread have reached the rep-cap, then it can be raised again.
It's a nice way to help new people to the site see which people are worth listening to. Even if they got all their rep in the inn, it still shows they've been around for a while and know a bit about the site.

It's just a user group icon.
Shows, for example, that you're a "malaz regular" and I'm an "admin".
