I had the most hilarious conversation at work today with a girl from China. She has had a very sheltered upbringing in a well-to-do family and has been living in New Jersey for a short while. Encountering someone with absolutely no understanding of the concept of political correctness or social diversity is just mind boggling. We had a conversation about a gay gentleman at work and also about the local area being primarily African-American and highly crime ridden. I have never winced so much in my life, it was like being in the 19th Century!

Details! We (I) demand details! Gross over-exaggeration? Unknowing use of ethnic stereotypes?
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Both of those and an eye-wateringly blunt use of the English language! It was ..... astonishing and so bad that I really don't wish to post any examples here even as an explanation!

I don't think it is possible to post on /b/ and not be trolling. Like they say, trolling /b/ is like pee'ing in a sea of pee.

I was posting on /b/. I made two "Prove me wrong threads" in a roll. Some mod was pissed! :)

One of them was demanding Rule 34 on Jerry Springer (I don't think it exists)

Hetan said Steve's got two chapters left to finish for Dust of Dreams. Hell yeah.

@Apt: Wait, 4chan has mods?
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

Steven Erikson news

Posted ImageFinally, I'm the bearer of good news for a change!

With SFF novels such as Lynch's The Republic of Thieves, Morgan's The Dark Commands, and Rothfuss' The Wise Man's Fear being pushed back to 2010, there has been some speculation that Erikson's Dust of Dreams (Canada, Europe) might be late as well.
Just heard back from Simon Taylor, Erikson's UK editor, and the majority of the manuscript has already been turned in. Only the final chapters are still missing, for they feature "massive battle scenes" and the author isn't done with them yet. Bantam Press are still gunning for a late summer pub date.
In related news, the mass market paperback edition of Toll the Hounds (Canada, USA, Europe)will see the light in a couple weeks. . .

Actually I've been wondering about it aswell. It may be that the fact that I actually made the sentence "Prove me wrong" in the OP which enacts some word filter that autobans you.

There are Mods on /b/ I think they use all their time encouraging Boxxy spam and saving child porn.

I had to laugh at the headline on the BBC website that read: "Ugly scenes at TV model audition".

Also, I find this to be awesome, it is currently blasting out of my headphones.

Don't look now, but I think there's something weird attached to the bottom of my posts.

Just watching the new Frankie Boyle DVD whilst eating the leftovers from Sunday lunch, crispy roast potatoes..... mmmmmm !
Now all the friends that you knew in school they used to be so cool, now they just bore you.
Just look at em' now, already pullin' the plow. So quick to take to grain, like some old mule.
