We take possession of the House today! Huzzah! It's been a long road, but we are almost there. Painter is coming in tomorrow for 4 days to get rid of the popcorn/stucco ceiling on the main floor (it doesn't bother me, but my wife hates it and wants it gone before we move in), and then they will spend 2.5 more days painting the whole house (colours we picked out). Our movers move the majority of our stuff there Monday, and we will live out of suitcases at my Father-in-Laws hose downtown Toronto so my kids can finish the term at school, and then we will move properly into the house around the 20th.
Also, while it was a no-go on naming the House "The Castle at the Lantern Waste" from Narnia, I have met much less resistance from the wife on naming it "Year-Dancing House" as my wife finds that poetic...and no I don't have to tell her its the name of the Sithi clan from Tad Williams Osten Ard books....that might spoil the whole thing. You gotta ease your spouses into nerdy stuff or you'll frighten them off.
Anyways, exciting days. Sad to leave the condo after 15 years (25 for may wife), but I'm ready to move to the quiet and the suburbs.

First meal in the home needs to kick off with popcorn.

Latest update on the weight loss saga. I hit 200 last year right before Christmas, ballooned up to 275, but got back down to 200 again. I was on holiday last week so am a bit up, but I have somehow figured out how to stop the binge and get back to normal restricted eating. That was always the problem, once I started going I would go for months, hence the 75 pound swing.
I don’t think I can drop that kind of weight again, so I’m not going to make myself. This is the third time I’ve broke under 200 since dropping from 360, and I think it might stick this time. Christmas I’m going to my parents so there will be some weight gain there, but for once I’m confident that I am going to come back home and go back to normal and be fine. I hope.

Sounds like a good idea! House came with a home theatre (projector and screen) in the basement, so maybe a movie to boot!

Got a new mouse. It's very silly. Has 12 side buttons which I've mapped to stuff like copy, paste etc.

My mum surprised me at the weekend by saying she's listened to some songs from Hamilton and really enjoyed it. This is the woman who professes to hate modern musicals.
We had this with Six, too. She couldn't stand it and then listened to some and decided she wanted to come see it (which she now has, and loved it).
Managed to get tickets to one of the mid-week matinees for Hamilton in Bradford in January. She's so excited!

I have seen Hamilton live and it is phenomenal. You'll all have a blast (sorry you have to go to Bradford though)

I've seen Hamilton live performed by the touring cast, and I've seen Shrek the Musical performed live (and outdoors) by the local community college troupe, and I have to admit Hamilton was better.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

At the risk of being unpopular...I have never understood the love for HAMILTON...I hated it, top to bottom. I don't understand the love.

That's where some of my pre-Revolutionary War American ancestors fled from... guess it hasn't gotten any better since. (No doubt they were accused of witchcraft for being in cahoots with Skynet... and the brooms they flew here on were semiautonomous drones.)

I saw it in London earlier this year and it's incredible. Going twice while it's up here as I originally booked to go with a friend and her partner (before Mum had her epiphany).
At the least the Alhambra is a gorgeous old theatre (it would just be better if it could be picked up and put down again somewhere not-Bradford.)

I haven't seen Shrek the Musical but I can only conclude you are most likely correct!

I feel like that about Wicked! Defying Gravity is a belter of a song but beyond that none of it interests me at all.

Was anybody rapping about the US constitution or revolution in France? I think that's the key.

In the Hammer? No, the were probably rapping about steel mills, the traffic on the Skyway bridge, and how Jackson's Square Mall is a stinky shithole stuck in the 80's.
