I saw that video of the dudes in the car and I've been humming it ever since!

Most of the shanties I know are from AC Black Flag haha

Edit: check out this awesome thread with a ton of versions (including the electroshanty) and some analysis of the lyrics etc. I'm obsessed! https://twitter.com/...3950145537?s=19

Finally got my elderly cat to drink more water and eat---managed to get same-day delivery of chicken broth for cats and seafood broth for cats. She'd been refusing to eat since she vomited her treats about 48 hours ago. Trip to the ER would be traumatic for her and the stress might finish her off (though I doubt it---if they would take her in time, which they might not given her age and triage priorities). High-calorie nutrient gels for sick cats are on their way tomorrow (didn't find overnight or same day shipping to my address, and didn't realize at first that cats could die or experience liver failure from three days without food---though she's not obese, so her risk of quick onset of fatty liver disease is low, and she's also not underweight). Hopefully she'll feel better and start eating her solid food again soon; it seems to be a nausea issue and not a tooth issue. But it's been an hour and a half and she's kept it all down without issue. Also, examining her urine output from the previous time I got her to drink a good amount, she's probably not experiencing kidney failure (urine output was moderate relative to the amount she drank, and happened after about eight hours, when she crawled out of her box and I brought her over to her litter box). She may still die soon, but her short-term chances seem much better now.

I can hear a penny whistle. That is amazing. With things like the penny whistle solo in Call me Al or Home for a Rest it is hard to hear over the rest of the music, but I can hear it if I concentrate. Just penny whistle by itself I hear most of easily. Amazing.

Just struck me today how much I enjoy working where I do - the location is great, my team are cool and my team leader is a legend. Sadly its a contract which'll be done in 2.5 months, but it's still nice :)

More evidence of normalcy returning. A president without any pets is a damaged person.

Today I learned that British government offices around Downing Street have office cats and that those cats are a common topic of news articles.

Sometimes they fight which has to be some kind of abstract metaphor for politics and bureaucracy.

The circuit breaker lockdown here has worked and life has resumed. Borders still closed and the vaccination program is going ahead but it's good to see a government doing the right thing and getting results.

So pleased for you guys Tiste.

Early vaccine one dose results suggest high protection until and beyond the second dose is given AND suggestion of reducing transmission.

Wife pulled a birthday doozy on me. Woke up on the day and she gave me AC: VALHALLA for my PS4 as my gift. I was super excited and thankful! My kids got me a MANDO hoodie too. Then in the evening she comes in from getting out son at daycare and has a wrapped gift and says "This was downstairs with security, they said there was no card and they don't know who sent it...?" I think it's some random gift my mom dropped off and lost the card. It's heavy. I set it down and let the kids rip into it (they love ripping gift paper)...

It's the Limited Edition 2363pc LEGO BATWING (1989) that you can hang on the bloody wall.

I had a moment where I was like "This isn't what it looks like, no way..."...

Anyways, long story short, I married the most amazing and kindhearted woman of all time. I've said this before, but it bears repeating since she indulges my LEGO passions.

Back to the Netherlands? This surely isn't about the UK. At least over in South Yorkshire there's no end in sight.

Heh, if there is one country who is definitely not keeping things under control it is the Netherlands. What a mess. Second lowest vaccination rate in the EU after Bulgaria. And then the government collapsed over an unrelated matter last month as well. Riots in the street. Nope, the Netherlands certainly isnt it.
Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.

This checks out because no Boris. Glad it's going well for you at any rate.

And damn Gore, I genuinely had no idea. That said we're not allowed news from the mainland without a £50 import fee now.
