The Union workers in the back have decided to use the floater day off this year on Monday the 24th, Christmas Eve...meaning that will be one long weekend including Christmas Day and Boxing Day....well I had the last minute realization today that I had one unused day of Vacation left (and if I didn't use it I was going to lose it, they don't carry over), so I have used it for New Year's Eve...thus creating ANOTHER extended long weekend the one after Christmas.
It's not one solid block of OFF time for Xmas and New Years...but damn, I'll take it!

Listening to BBC Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. A PICK-ME-UP at any time of day. Cleaning the flat. Packing for holidays. Thinking of the three weeks off at home between the 15.12. - 7.1. Being with my family. Mama's kitchen. Catching up with friends. A session of RPG. Things are starting to look UP.

As much as packing and loading (by myself) a moving truck sucks. I'm done. Tomorrow morning I'm headed back to Southern Illinois.

first day back at work after wife gave birth to a bruising 9lb 13oz baby boy last week. 57cm long and already doing well on the night sleeping, but a little bit of normality is just what the doc ordered!

The last two hours were awesome. Finished up all but one work project (and that one was never expected to be done by now), so I have nothing hanging over me. I then received a higher annual raise and larger Christmas bonus than I expected. Walked out the door an hour and fifty minutes ago, knowing I am now on vacation and won't see work for over a month. I am currently chilling with a cold brew, have no responsibilities or anything that needs done tonight and in less than 24 hours I'll be on a plane bound for New Zealand reading "Cold Days."
