New Fiona Apple album purchased and downloading as we speak! Woot!

Listening now via Spotify, it lives up to the hype and then some. "Valentine" is a particular favorite so far.

Agree, I also like Periphery a lot.

I too like Periphery.

What is making me happy is England coming top of the group (it won't last I know but I'm happy for the time being...)
Also, today I discovered the coolest song I have ever heard... (not metal, in case anyone is worried...)

A Haunting Poem
I Scream
You Scream
We all Scream
For I Scream.

A friend of mine made me a mixtape to take on my trip, and another sent me a hand-written letter wishing bon voyage. I am actually so touched, no-one has ever done anything like this for me. Defs got friends!

It has been proven beyond all reasonable doubt that the most powerful force on Wu is a bunch of messed-up Malazans with Moranth munitions.

Been staying the the gfs house for a few days, which has been good fun for obvious reasons (giggety) and she also got me presents, one of which was a tshirt I asked for with the green extra life mushroom from mario on it with the phrase 'get a life' underneath. Its fucking epic and im tempted to buy more (all) of them. I also went the doctors as ive been in pretty bad pain for a while now with a suspected hernia but apparently its long term strained cartilage just under my ribs, so ill have to lay off the deadlifts for a while. Still better than a hernia.

Its also my birthday this weekend and I will be getting unbelievably steamboated saturday night.

Is that the same as saying "gazebo'd"/"trolley'd"/"trousered"?

I'm fairly cheap, as it goes (quiet, you lot!) £375/d. My power is XML/XSLT and training, but don't worry, it can only be used for good.

Africa trip so very soon! I can smell it!

I may not have computer usage during the next three weeks, so if I don't-farewell my friends, and thanks for all your help!

Are your friends named "The 1980s?"

I'm kidding, that's very sweet of your friends, but a hand written letter and a mixtape are oldschool. It's like the time I went on vacation and my friends got me a giftcard to the local blacksmith and a telegram. The signed daguerreotype was sweet too.

Got the aforementioned pseudo-promotion at work!

On the downside, found out I'm being affected by the reshuffle of team members at work, so I won't be with my awesomesauce team any more! And the team I'm going to (while relatively cool, though one of my friends there is being shuffled away from it at the same time, dammit) is just not as much fun. And too many newbies who I'll have to help babysit. XD

Gilbert Gottfried reads Fifty Shades of Grey
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

Saw Van Halen last night.

Hilarious to see the average age of my fellow concertgoers - we're gettin' old, guys.

But VH still rocks. :headbang:
OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

Only 1 day of boring Biosafety course in Salisbury left! Did the course exam just after lunch (it was unexpectedly hard but whatever; a bad mark only means I'm a danger to my fellow colleagues and that's their problem not mine), have the afternoon off to do coursework (already finished most of it!), can go home after lunch tomorrow. Can't wait to get home.

Bad side is that having finished the coursework, I have no excuse not to write the conference presentation that I've been putting off all week.... Way to bring myself down again...

Ok weird thing about me is i am the death to electronics you put me near them they break.. I consume them with my negative field i generate I guess. My buddies call that my xmen power..great! i destroy electronics. So I have gone through PCs at 6 months each at work/home. My car stereo busted/home speakers/receivers/kindles..whatever .I mean kindles really? I have been through two! I get blamed at this point for stuff breaking its freaking weird. Its so bad i set two freaking alarms for work..no joke! So i try to go with stuff that LASTS. so experiment time.

Soooo I'm putting APPLE to the test. First Mac in a long time. MAC LC 2 with 15 mhz and 2.4 baud modem on AOL back in the day!

I will tell you how it goes. I must admit its taking a bit to get used to..but I LOVE its interface. Messing around with some D3 at this point and its fun fun.

here is hoping.

Now THAT would be inspiring.

On topic, tim tams and rum are making me extremely pleased with myself....
