Just be aware that the State of Origin crowd will probably be the biggest pile of drunken fuckwit losers you are ever going to see. Seriously, they roll up when gates open at 5pm drunk as skunks and behaving horribly. The cops will be everywhere so make friends with the ones in your area and don't hesitate to call them over to eject any shitheads. Mostly their shitty behaviour is confined to the stands though, so if you're an usher don't take any crap.

... then again you're a Collingwood supporter so I guess you've seen and done it all before yourself. :D

I absolutely need to spend more time on something awful. I'm reading a thread about people's favourite quotes from the site and there is some serious fucking gold here. I'm not going to post many but there's an exchange of insults between the horrible posters Infrateal and the heebie-gbs in the GBS forum which are sublime. I hurt myself reading this.

@Sombra - I've decided not to - I've got a cold and knowing my luck it'll turn into a chest infection if I spend the night outside.


Good looking men in light coloured shirts jumping into water always makes me happy :D

Seriously, that sounds fair enough, it really does get quite nippy in those stands.

And if it rains ... uuuugggh. People who have seats in the parts that are getting soaked refuse to go back to their seats and just crowd the landings of the vomitories (yes, that's what they're called - the tunnels out of the stands) and give you very drunken attitude when you try to get them to move on because it's a safety risk.

The highlight of my State of Origin experience was watching NSW win while I was ushering level with the halfway line, halfway up the stand - best spot in the house and I got paid for it, while watching thousands of Queenslanders get soaked and depressed, resenting me cheering NSW but not being able to do a goddamn thing about it because I had the cops standing next to me ... who by a weird coincidence were also NSW supporters. :D

As you know, sadly, this was a fair while ago. Stupid QLD streak of series wins. :D

The new series/mini-series thingy 'Sherlock' that just premiered on TV One. I'm pretty sure it's not going to last very long, but it was very well done, and just makes Steven Moffat more god-tier as a writer, imo. Good acting for the parts, too, mind. :D

I've said it before, it's an excellent reworking of Sherlock Holmes and all the more impressive in that they managed to set it in modern london and yet keep the "feel" of Holmes.

As for it not lasting long. They have initially filmed 3 episodes (and they're really good) but had to stop it then because most of Moffat's crew are involved with DOCTOR WHO, which is a flagship programme for the BBC.

They have plans to make another 3 when the current series of Doctor Who finishes filming. So, good times.



On a similar note, I just watched a couple of episodes of Season 5 of LEWIS (The Inspector Morse spinoff). I love the feel of that show.

It would seem that something broke inside me on Friday... turns out a side effect of broken hope is that it would seem like my fear of heights has been significantly dampened. Today I've opened the 'balcony' door (there's no balcony behind the door, just a railing) wide for the first time since August, and I feel comfortable with it (10th storey).
