Man that's brutal, you have my sympathy. Thankfully for us the faculty mandates that essays just have to be in by the time the office closes at 4:30. If it was due at 9 a.m. I'd just come in whenever and cop the 2% late penalty (you heard that right - TWO PERCENT late penalty each day).

Or agree and then chat up someone else. DA 2 was ridiculous in that respect, I think at some point my entire party considered me a viable love interest despite gently sticking to the friends zone with most of them.
