Got two first year students to present a paper at a really big seminar and it went over really well. It was their first time in front of a crowd that big and I am really proud that they never faltered. Bonus points for the convenor singling our group out in the vote of thanks.

I was dangerously close to quitting jiujitsu after missing almost two months for a variety of reasons. I made it to one class this week and remembered why I go. I'm going to keep trying to cram it into my schedule. My week just doesn't feel complete without a couple chances to hold a sweaty man between my legs and strangle him.

After a bit of a shaky first week at daycare, our little one is doing well and only crying a bit when we drop her off. Good to know she's so well looked after. The staff are amazing so far!

Amen to that.

This is hard! I'm glad you made it and are now brain washed into believing this is an essential part of your life. It will hopefully become a part of your identity. May you miss most of the injuries newer people get.

I rolled a couple classes yesterday while in London, UK. It's fun to do this while traveling, especially when the laundry can dry in the room while we're out.

So far just a dislocated shoulder, 2 jammed fingers that don't bend right anymore, a sprained neck, and a bit of cauliflower ear.

The next hard part is when you drop them off and they run off to play and don't give 2 shits you're leaving. You're like, bye?!

Oof. Right now, I'm nursing a stiff quad, a tweaked elbow, and the shoulder on the other side isn't good. Cauliflower ear, I seem to only get it when people kick or elbow me directly in the ear, so it's mostly stopped progressing beyond a barely noticeable point.

Last hour of nightshift.

Had to bring a bleeding patient over from intensive care; all went smoothly, collected from itu, blood given while surgeon patched her up, and got her back over to the unit in under two hours.

Then we watched Robocop.

One hour to go and I'm out for the weekend.

So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

There is something delicious about being on holiday. Just slept in for an extra hour. It makes all the difference in the world. No headache. No fatigue.

First time on the pitch in 2 months, and I'm feeling ok, even though I'm obv out of shape.

I didn't cause any goals (well, I DID cause that one own goal situation, but I cleared it off the line with a slide. Even though there's no sliding in indoor, but it worked out and there was no PK), and our team won, so things are generally good.
Now, whether I can handle an outdoor game tomorrow evening is still up in the air...

Wait. You played football and DIDN'T somehow end up with a ridiculous injury?

Congrats I guess?

It usually takes a few games.

My ankle is sore this morning, and i'm limping a bit on my way to work. Think I might skip the outdoor game this evening if it doesn't feel better by the time I'm done work.

Still, it's a minor ache. And the jet lag worked for me this morning: I was able to get up on time and do some stretching before heading off to make breakfast and get ready for work. Might even be on time to work my first day back, which is kinda remarkable.

Fancy-shmancy work-sponsored four-course-dinner yesterday with lots of expensive wine. I'm nursing a headache today (and I actually retired early, I hear some people stayed until 3AM), but it was absolutely worth it to go.

I think my mom and I are going to build a house. Kind of scary, but I think it will be a good investment.

Thought I'd just check in:

I have a new boyfriend. We've only been together for 4 months, but I'm pretty sure this is the one I'm going to marry and adopt a bunch of cats with ;)

I also have a new job, which I'm starting Monday. Goodbye assistant manager in a comic book store, and hello editior-in-fucking-chief of Gamereactor.no!
