I'm going camping in two weeks. I haven't been camping in 17 years! I am so freakin' excited about it! We've chosen a fairly remote spot too - no power, no water, no communications, no anything. No kid, no partner, no responsibilities.
It's going to be glorious!

More bittersweet than happy, but End of Mission for Cassini at 7:55 AM EST. Above and beyond at 77,000 miles per hour.

I'm on a youtube Frankie Boyle binge. God that man is funny. It feels like he's on a never ending quest to discover the most offensive sentence possible.

On Saturday I decided to finish the book I was reading on my Kindle (The Dragon's Path) and after I do I see that it's only at 46% read. So I'm confused, wondering what happened to the other 54%; I skip ahead past the acknowledgements and preview of book two and find out that my ebook included a free copy of Leviathan Wakes. Not just a few chapters, but the whole book! I was so happy, considering that I only paid $4 Canadian for the ebook, and I'd been meaning to read LW for the longest time.
I don't know if all of the e-versions of Dragon's Path came with this bonus book, or if I just happened upon it by accident, but yay.
Free books make me happy.

Going to be in Edgware London England from the 20-24th for the wedding festivities of my gf's cousin. Very much looking forward to being on vacation for the first time since March.
Hoping to get to the Tate Modern museum and Mill House BJJ as well. Very excited for this trip.

Got two first year students to present a paper at a really big seminar and it went over really well. It was their first time in front of a crowd that big and I am really proud that they never faltered. Bonus points for the convenor singling our group out in the vote of thanks.

I was dangerously close to quitting jiujitsu after missing almost two months for a variety of reasons. I made it to one class this week and remembered why I go. I'm going to keep trying to cram it into my schedule. My week just doesn't feel complete without a couple chances to hold a sweaty man between my legs and strangle him.

After a bit of a shaky first week at daycare, our little one is doing well and only crying a bit when we drop her off. Good to know she's so well looked after. The staff are amazing so far!

This is hard! I'm glad you made it and are now brain washed into believing this is an essential part of your life. It will hopefully become a part of your identity. May you miss most of the injuries newer people get.
I rolled a couple classes yesterday while in London, UK. It's fun to do this while traveling, especially when the laundry can dry in the room while we're out.

So far just a dislocated shoulder, 2 jammed fingers that don't bend right anymore, a sprained neck, and a bit of cauliflower ear.

The next hard part is when you drop them off and they run off to play and don't give 2 shits you're leaving. You're like, bye?!
I've always been crazy but its kept me from going insane.

Oof. Right now, I'm nursing a stiff quad, a tweaked elbow, and the shoulder on the other side isn't good. Cauliflower ear, I seem to only get it when people kick or elbow me directly in the ear, so it's mostly stopped progressing beyond a barely noticeable point.

Last hour of nightshift.
Had to bring a bleeding patient over from intensive care; all went smoothly, collected from itu, blood given while surgeon patched her up, and got her back over to the unit in under two hours.
Then we watched Robocop.
One hour to go and I'm out for the weekend.

There is something delicious about being on holiday. Just slept in for an extra hour. It makes all the difference in the world. No headache. No fatigue.
