Sorry, I meant it more as an aside. I'm sure Mila and JT had as much fun dry humping as everyone else had watching it!

I can testify, I had a lot of fun watching it.

I'm going for the triple crown. Now watching 2003 movie Paycheck with Ben Affleck. Never heard of it before but it will be ok, Aaron Eckhart is in it. No JT in his pants but I'm going to be in trouble tomorrow for drinking so much of Mr PigDogs whisky anyway. It's all or nothing now. And I don't have to feed the baby in the morning. This is the pinnacle of my week!

I loved Paycheck when I was a bit younger! Still have it on VHS... too bad I don't have a VHS player.

So I went out last night, was starting to go a bit stir crazy trapped indoors - hadn't done anything since New Years - and I knew there was a local scene metal gig going on in Islington so I figured why not. It's part of a competition called Metal 2 The Masses the winner of which gets to play at Bloodstock Open Air - which I believe is nationwide, it certainly has Birmingham and Brighton branches at any rate. Anyhow I didn't know any of the bands on, but I knew I'd know plenty of people at the venue, needed to get out so I said why not.

So I'm chatting away to a friend of mine and her friend whom I'd never met before and a little bit later in the night I join a conversation between this girl and two of the members of one of the bands. The singer is talking about Game of Thrones, so naturally I ask if she's read the books or simply seen the show, start chatting about the books etc. At this point my friend's friend - henceforth simply my friend lol - just goes, 'Ah fantasy is all about Steven Erikson anyway'. I'm like omfg, turn around start asking her all these questions about MBotF, at which point she shows me the top she is wearing, a bridge on fire with 'Bridgeburners, first in last out' written underneath!

Needless to say I spent most of the rest of the night geeking out with my new best mate lol

Seriously though, first person I've actually met who has read them as well, she has only read up to the end of The Bonehunters though so I had to be mighty careful about spoilers, especially as regards certain favourite characters.

^ I know right, only caught the last 2 songs of the one band it turned out I had seen before in the end, because I was too busy chatting away; I had started to believe that no one was ever going to know what the hell I was talking about when I said I was reading Erikson's MBotF. Was a good night for sure.

But yeah heavy metal and Malazan! If I didn't already have a girlfriend whom I love, probably would have been making a fool of myself attempting to utilise what little I know about the mysterious art of flirtation - would've been horrific I reckon lol

You know that feeling when your laying on brand spanking new bed sheets covered in a brand spanking new bed spread? Heavenly. Be better if I had got a brand spanking new mattress as well.

I am happy because I remembered that this place exists. :( I am currently re-reading the series (re-read number two) and was like "Hmmm, I remember there used to be this awesome site for Malazan fans..." and I found it AND my account is still here, yay.

It's the bright spot in an otherwise cruddy month.

I've got some freaking amazing concerts lined up for the next few months. All of them artists that are very heavy in my regular rotation.

First I bought tickets for Circa Survive's 10 year anniversary On Letting Go your.

Then I got tickets to see Portugal. The Man at an outdoor venue that is super confortable and one of my favorites in my city.

Turns out Portugal is doing a secret show the night before at a super small venue with limited tickets, so of course I signed up for that.

Then, after I thought I'd reached peak music joy I found out that my absolute top two are coming through together. Coheed and Cambria announced a Neverender show for Good Apollo IV pt 1, and The Dear Hunter is opening for them!!! I couldn't be more hyped right now. :(

is it a sign I'm getting old that I have heard of literally none of the acts you mentioned?

JPK I desperately want to go to the C&C show purely because of the Dear Hunter!

Nah. I suspect it's a difference in home regions and possibly genre of choice. Portugal has a good following here on the west coast US, but the only one that seems to really have an international following is Coheed and Cambria.

My brother is a huge fan of Portugal The Man. He got to attend a radio taping show a few years ago and hang out with the band for a while due to some connections he and I have. He obviously loved that and I hope you have a similar experience at your secret show and the big show.
