Last night I got to attend the Red Carpet premiere of a film I crewed on last summer. Since Cork is quite a small city, it wasn't the biggest or glitziest affair, but the local press and radio were there, and it is quite surreal to see the faces of people you knew and worked with, plastered across huge billboards and posters around the cinema. Also to see the film projected on the biggest (Maxx) screen was an awesome sight.
Unfortunately I showed my rookie status at these kind of things, and was too slow to take a picture of my name coming up on the opening credits (and missed the closing credits too cos i had powered down my phone during the screening, Doh!). Quite a buzz to see your own name come up though. Since it was such a tiny film, we were all doing multiple roles, and so it became a bit of a joke as to what i should be down in the credits as. Because i was driving everywhere getting actors, props, catering, whatever else needed fetching, I'm now down as the Transport Captain. Tried to get them to put me down as The Transporter, but one of the higher ups nixed that idea
Still, it's been a fantastic experience seeing the stuff build up in the papers, and now having friends rave about it after seeing it. Hopefully it won't be the last feature I get to work on, but if it is, then it's already been quite a ride.
